I can't remember when was the last time Detroit ended up with under 100 pts (no lockout season). I like the Red Wings team this year and with all the realignment and new opponents I think Detroit only got better chances to reach the playoffs with easier schedule.

Miller was struggling last year and with the transition Sabres are currently in I can't really see an end to it. Their defense was among the worst in the league allowing the most shots per game. I think Buffalo can't do much this year and we'll see what happens with Miller and Vanek. Detroit is part of the huge changes but the realignment is giving them better schedule and in my opinion easier opponents to reach the playoffs. While their offensive game was based on Datsyuk - Zetterberg duo last year I think they will come stronger this year. They have lost Filppula and Brunner but acquired Alfredsson and Weiss who I think will fit into the team well. I'm only worried about their defense which doesn't seem much better than last year. Perhaps they put too much faith in Howard. Detroit usually rarely losses points at home and the last time Sabres have beaten Red Wings was in 2009. It is the first match of the season and perhaps Sabres with their rookies are given too few credit but I think veterans from Detroit have this covered.

HV 71 is in a little crysis, they are struggling after start of the season and only have 3 victories out of 8 matches which puts them at the bottom of the standings. Certainly a disappointment for a club such as HV 71. So far they let in by far the most goals in the league while they scored some themselves. Over at +104 for me is worth a try.

Both teams playing back-to-back coming from high scoring matches. Columbus improved their offense a bit but their D together with Bobrovsky was disappointing yesterday. Some bad mistakes by defensemen and Bobrovsky was weak in 3rd period. Islanders know how to score, last season they were scoring like 4-5 goals at home, so even if Blue Jackets choke in worst case I can see a push.

Pretty similar teams here - both are playing aggressive offensive hockey and have poor defense, both lost their first season match vs Toronto so they are looking for a first season win. Montreal is banged up with injuries on D - Murray, Drewiske, Emelin, they lost enforcer Parros, a high burden will lay on Subban tonight. Max Pacioretti will miss the match which doesn't look good for Montreal either. Price will start again and he just sucks vs Flyers through out his career (1-7-0, 3.97 GAA). He did look decent vs Toronto in 2nd and 3rd period though. I'm not sure how big role Briere can play tonight - long time Flyers player who should know his former team very well. Philadelphia will go with Emery tonight but with lack of support from Flyers defense I think he has a similar faith as Bryzgalov coming for him. My cousin Vinny (Lecavalier) already proved a worthy acquisition on first match as he picked up an assist with Flyers only goal in the match vs Toronto. Through out his career he has some good % playing Montreal on his side as he notched 61 points on 53 games vs Canadiens. If Vinny and Giroux can find their game, I think we are looking at a sure over. I've been burned with Flyers - Maple Leafs match but I think we'll see a high scoring game tonight.
