Same argument works the other way. If he plays, it's easier for you to pass him, if he goes -2 you only need to go +3..

My plan is to not put in any picks. The only way we can lose is if Santo goes 4-0 so if he puts in picks, we'll probably parlay his picks as a hedge. If he does go 4-0 we'll get 2nd place plus a few grand on the 4-team parlay. If he doesn't, we'll win first place minus a few hundred bucks we lose on the parlay.

That is the strategy as of right now.
