I know than NBA is on rest until Saturday, but there are many MLB and NHL games to run contests. I remember that SBR got a big hit when allowing a hockey predict the score contest (about 1000 points given in a USA - Canada Olympics game). Still, the bleed could be controlled giving no prize to period scores, or having some 100 points to be divided between all correct period scores. Correct final score could be worth 100 points divided between all correct scores, or 50 to each correct one, or even pooled with the period prize (maybe having double weight).
Same happens with baseball. Of course, there could be no inning prize (the 0-0 would win lots of innings), but can have a three-inning score (innings 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9), or maybe the partial score after 5 innings. And the correct final score may get 50 points, or 100 points divided between winners.
I know that predicting the score is far easier in hockey or baseball than in basketball. But instead of a problem, it is an opportunity to get more people interested, as the possibility of a win is not so small, even if the points earned are less. The trick is to find a prize distribution that caps the maximum giveaway to a reasonable size.
