Why do guys make picks days in advance? Remember, scratch = Void race, there is no benefit to posting early.
I view it as a crapshoot anyway LT. No idea on horse racing. Just shooting darts at a board so, betting early, meh.
Wouldn't make a difference anyway. Guessing most are in similiar position.

But it is just as much of a crapshoot Saturday mornings after scratches, except then at least you are throwing darts at horses actually running.

But why do we need to post all picks prior to first race?
If you want to make it a better contest we should be allowed to place picks prior to each race start. This is how is done at the race track. No one goes to the race track and bets race 12 before race 1 starts.

True, but that would make it a nightmare to track given how the contest is set up. Also, there would be issues with checking for past posting on every race and if you forget to pick a race...automatically DQ'd. Not ideal as track could be biased for speed, inside/outside, etc., but as long as you wait to last minute to make selections...it seems reasonable.

Not my call since I don't make the rules, but your point is totally different from mine.

I think there could be a cutoff 5-10 min before race starts. Not hard to enforce. My point is there is no strategy with the contest. If you place picks prior to each race then it changes the strategy to win.

Yeah, I completely agree from a strategy standpoint of winning the contest.
