I can't think of any particular strategies... I know we want to avoid posting opposite side plays as this can result in a penalty. I guess if Eagles you are on NCAAB you can fire away at will...
Should we split the NFL up somehow? I don't know if this is conducive to allowing people to get down their "best bets" so to speak... What should we do if we disagree about a pick in the NFL, who takes it? Maybe split it up by weeks? Thoughts?

Also, I don't think we each need to make 20 plays as long as the team makes 80 total...

Well the rules say there should be a minimum 20 per person. We could post our plays here first and see if anyone disagrees and then go from there with the pick we disagree on?

My thinking since there will be basically three guys splitting up football picks is that it would make sense for you guys to maybe the night before the plays, come in here and post the ones you believe you like best. That way we can see if you're all agreeing or if there are plays to spread out amongst all the football games.
As far as #s, I would say you just keep picking your "best plays of the day" and so long as you feel confident they will win, we should play them and not worry about the exact number of picks per person (especially the first couple weeks). If it looks like you might be lagging as the month goes on and that you'll need to make more picks to get to the 20, then we can figure that out as we go.

Any plays today fellas?
I'm likely going with Idaho +3 in NCAAB as my first play tonight. Let's discuss any picks you have in mind before making our selections.

I just did a quick look at recent stats for tonights nfl game. I don't have any strong lean either way. Jacksonville has been terrible and Houston has been slightly less than terrible. This combined with the fact that H is home I guess would make me lean H... However, I just glanced and don't really follow the AFC South...
You guys have any feel for this one?

I have no feeling on that one. Two bad teams usually makes for bad bets.

I don't have any leans on these games today I don't think. I really like your Idaho pick though, so I would go with that.

I got a handful of NCAAB games I like today. Waiting for the lines. Will post 'em here to see what you guys think.
Any of you guys any good at NBA? I don't delve into that too much, just a play here & there.

Checking out the Daily Lines thread now. Lines have moved some, so it might take me a little bit to post what I like as I have to re-evaluate a few.
Congrats on that sudden death match Mex! Go get 'em!

Here's what I am thinking right now.
Clemson/Illinois OVER 128
Houston +2.5
Tinkering with Virginia +7.5 & looking at NBA, maybe Knicks OVER? Points seem to be coming in the bunches no matter who they play.

Some leans I like are
Los Angeles Lakers -8.5 -102
729 Clemson +1.5 -111
725 Iowa +8 -106
738 Western Kentucky -4.5 -106*
720 Cleveland State -7 -108

That Clemson line reminds me of Wisconsin last night. I really liked the Badgers, but didn't pull the trigger. Clemson is better than Illinois, but can they navigate on the road? I'd say they have a better than 50-50 shot at winning.
W.Kentucky SHOULD be able to cover, unless they have a big letdown from the Marquette game. Not real sure about the other two nor the NBA. I say go ahead and make at least 2-3 plays from your list and let's see what happens!
By the way, think I am going with
Villanova -14 (Wish it was 13.5 like I am really playing)
CS-Fullerton/LSU OVER 146
That Clemson/Illinois total is all over the place. Started at 125 which is where I would definitely play the over. Now at 131.5 in many places. 128 at SBR. Just don't like the movement. May still add Houston.
Gametime decision.

Also still thinking about Virginia +7.5. Will probably play either that or Houston in the contest as well.

Yeah tell me about it. I left out Houston & talked myself out of that over in the Clemson game. Friggin lucked out though for the over in the LSU game. That sucker looked doomed, but got it by a point!
And just a horrendously bad beat in that Lakers game.

Yeah very frustrating. So far all my college games have hit and I post up a loser for us and leave off the rest. I played Clemson in my tournament and don't use it here. Tomorrow is a new day and watch just post the losers with all my leans lol.

That's cool. As long as you're making money, this little contest is peanuts. I think we all probably just need to say the hell with it and use our real money plays for the most part.

I'm going to post my real money plays in here, pointing out which ones I like the best, and then we can decide what to go wtih. I am playing a few CBB for $, and I'll post those in here......though Eagles will get first crack at all of them since that isn't my strong suit.

Yes. Everyone can see this thread. I don't think people come in and troll for picks to follow or anything, so I don't feel like we need to be secretive in posting picks. You guys feel the same?

Yeah I don't think it is a problem at all. What plays do you like? I have a bunch and I will probably just post them all this time around
I also like Rhode Island, but I will probably just lay off of it since you don't like it too much

My favorites today & ones I will definitely play for the contest:
Arkansas-Little Rock +3.5
Wyoming/Boise State UNDER 151.5
W.Virginia/Ole Miss OVER 140.5
Considering
E.Carolina +2
R.Island/Northeastern UNDER 147
... on Rhode Island, don't let me talk you out of it if you like it. I did have it as a play originally, but due to the # of posters on the game, I got off it. I still think it is the right side, but it's got that jinx possibility that seems to work 75% of the time.
As for the others, I think the bigger favorite lines will all be close. Ones I like best that you have are probably Oregon & Richmond. The others I think all have a shot, but all appear that they will be nail biters at those numbers.

I don't care that the others can see this. Sorry, I don't have any leans on any of these games.... Just not a basketball bettor, maybe I'll toss out some NBA ones eventually.
Also, I noticed some other posters talking about following steam since the lines are set and you can watch movements. Is this something we should look into? For me it is just a +/- after I have capped the game but it is not dispositive.
Finally, should we "pass picks" at all to ensure we all get to 20? Is this something that we are allowed to do, I can't see how it is to be prevented. In other words since I will be playing most NFL and I might not make 20 should I post some Bball picks that others have come up with? I don't anticipate falling short on NFL picks but ya never know.
GL tonight guys! Looking forward to contributing on NFL!

We could pass picks if any of us don't reach the number. I don't see that as a problem though. There are four weeks of NFL left, so if you just put up 5 picks then you should be set. We can worry about the last week or two and see where everybody is.

I've seen the steam stuff before. Personally, I don't care about it one way or another. I've seen now with a month of samples for NCAAB that my first intuition is usually better than most of the games if I look late for line movement, etc.
I'm not worried about the 20 pick deal until at least mid way through the month. I expected you football guys to have less to start obviously with fewer to pick from. I think until we get into the last 10 days or so of the month, just make the plays you like & we'll worry about needing to meet the minimum when the time arrives.
