    Suggestions for 3rd contest
Hoping there is a 3rd contest as I realize it is a ton of work to run. Maybe people can put suggestions in this thread for the mods to consider. Here are mine.

1)no cancellations unless game is cancelled, ect. this should send konck into a frenzy. strategy out capping in
2)set amount of plays each and every round i.e. 8 not 8-10. once again puts the onus on capping instead of strategy
3)leave the ML and big dogs out like they did this round. more on capping once again and less on the hail mary. of course, they did leave them out this round but it should continue
4)lines up the night before. I am sure the mods have access to overnight lines and it would be nice to see them up a bit earlier. waiting until 2 hours before gametime i.e. like last saturday is not a good thing for those people who have a life.
5)crazyl and diogee get together, rank the players in the contest, and set the bracket like a real march madness bracket would be. to make things easier use the results of this contest to rank players in the next contest. of course, some will not be in it but put the newer plays as a higher seed. That will make things really exciting albeit is sure to bring about much moaning.
6)make entry at least 100 post count. yeah I know you wanna bring in new people but come on they come in, play the contest, and leave and you never hear from them again. A little loyalty and input is not too much to ask for and 100 posts is nothing.

    Anything else?

Disagree with 2). Can create very interesting situations. Nothing wrong with some strategy.

Canceling plays can get into borderline cheating.

Thanks for the feedback, that's good stuff and we'll certainly weight out what posters think can be done better and implement them going forward.

I am not sure how this would be fixed, but the way it is set up it seemed at times almost like a race to post certain games first. For example, both contestants want the Jets at -3 but Contestant A refreshes his computer constantly all day and jumps on it, while Contestant B goes on the forum after work once a day and has to pick leftover games.

Very nice suggestions. We think alike!

#5 would be hard to do (time consuming), but would be pretty cool.

#1 & #2 need to happen for sure! Strategy is for the weak! Cancelling is for pussies!

There shouldnt be a 3rd one. One week and 15-20 plays does not show ones capping abilities. Might as well just flip coins.

Good suggestions Picantel. I actually like #5...that was originally the plan after the 1st 64 man tourney but since it went to 128 I didn't go through the effort of it. I am more than willing to go through and rank everyone based on the completion of the current tourney. I think it would be best if the rankings would be done by total units + or - for the entire tourney for each returning participant with the 2 finalists guaranteed to be the 1 and 2 seeds. I think this would make the seedings a little more interesting since someone knocked out in the round of 32 could end up being ranked ahead of someone who made the sweet 16. Most probably won't agree with it but it is just a thought. Also new participants would be ranked on earliest join date and have post count as a tie-break.

Good stuff -- I might suggest that you have an open round 1, where every participant is required to submit 10 picks. Just like a golf tournament, you would have a cut -- the top 64 make the tournament. It would then be easy to seed based on performance in the first round.

                The advantages to doing are:

                1. It rewards the top handicappers in round 1 with good seeding.
                2. If someone turns out to be a no-show, it doesn't give someone a free pass into the next round. Anyone who makes the top 64 is very likely to not be a no-show later on....
                3. It keeps BBD from having to wait on the 126th, 127th, 128th player -- you can now have 90, or 290 --- it doesn't matter because the idea is to make the top 64 cut, or 'the big dance'

Also agree on pointspreads only and no cancellations!

                  Thanks Mtneer.

Going forward after round 3, as we approach the money rounds we are going with a set # of picks. Next will be 10 then we will escalate from there, capping out at 14 or so for the championship.

How about a BYE week for the sweet 16 of tournament 2 ?

Rankings are a good idea. Can still be done for this round of 16, based on first three rounds. That's a better indicator than previous tournaments. And it would prevent brackets from being heavily weighted with the strongest players all on one side.
