Huge loss for the Angels and my fantasy teams that roster Trout. Not having him for 2 months is going to hurt big time both in reality and in fantasy.

6:49pm: The Angels are recalling lefty Jose Quijada to fill Trout’s roster spot, Jack Harris of the LA Times relays.
5:50pm: In devastating news for the Angels, superstar center fielder Mike Trout will miss six to eight weeks as a result of the right calf strain he suffered Monday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. The Angels have placed Trout on the 10-day injured list, Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times was among those to tweet. They’ll make a corresponding move later.
It couldn’t get much worse than this for the Angels, who again haven’t been able to capitalize on Trout’s excellence this year. Already mired in a six-year playoff drought, the Angels are off to a subpar 18-22 start despite Trout’s best efforts. The 29-year-old future Hall of Famer has slashed .333./.466/.624 with eight home runs over 146 plate appearances, and he leads all qualified position players in wRC+ (199) and fWAR (2.5).
Unfortunately, this will go down as another injury-shortened year for Trout, who hasn’t played in 140-plus games since 2018. As a result of this news, baseball fans won’t have the privilege of watching Trout again until July or later, and his absence will obviously weaken the Angels’ lineup to a significant extent. There’s simply no realistic way to suitably replace Trout, the game’s preeminent player for several years. The Halos have used Scott Schebler and Juan Lagares in center when Trout hasn’t played this year, but they pale in comparison to the eight-time All-Star and three-time MVP. The team has a pair of touted outfield prospects in Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh, either of whom could come up with Trout unavailable, though that’s unlikely to happen, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register tweets.

                    5th no hitter.

I did say it was going to be the year of the pitcher.

Unless you are Ohtani, then it's the year of the both.

Trout hurt himself jogging from second to third! Steriod use from a young age is the only thing I can think of as why these so called professional athletes get hurt so easily. Mlb injuries off the charts.
Something is not right wth it. These guys have the best of everything and getting hurt doing minimal work

Either PED's or lack of water.

Ricky Henderson used to preach drink water, Lots of it.

I shouldn't say steriods I guess..but these guys are bigger and faster than ever. Yet they break down at an alarming rate! If they are lifting heavy maybe..but lot of talk of peds at early age. Something is strange. Maybe they just more protective in this day and age as years before guys would play thru it.
No matter it does your team no good if you can't stay on the field

I think it's because of the steroids and all the weights and exercise they do, which makes there bodies break down faster. Baseball players get hurt alot considering there isn't much contact in the sport.

Make that 6 no hitters and 2 in less than 24 hours. It's embarrassing when a below average Spencer Turnbull throws one and then an aging Corey Kluber finds the magic and throws one a day later. I don't even get excited about them anymore because it's too easy now to throw a no no.

These injuries are not cool, pitching injuries understandable with all the velocity and strain on the arms these days. Hitters maybe just not playing through things that they did in the past?

Orioles first baseman and designated hitter Chris Davis will miss the rest of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left hip, per Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com (via Twitter). Recovery time is projected to be four to five months.
Shortstop Richie Martin is also out for the time being with a non-displaced fracture in the radius bone of his left wrist, per Kubatko. The Orioles expect him to return after somewhere between eight and twelve weeks.
The Orioles had already gone the first month and a half of the season without Davis because of a lower back strain. Now, in light of this news, it will go down as another lost season for the former star. Baltimore re-signed Davis to a seven-year, $161MM contract prior to the 2016 season, but the move has blown up in the club’s face. Now 35 years old, Davis hit an atrocious .196/.291/.379 with 92 home runs over 2,118 plate appearances from 2016-20. The Orioles owe him annual salaries of $23MM through 2022.
This will also count as a year to forget for Martin, whom the Orioles took from the Athletics in the 2018 Rule 5 Draft. Martin totaled 309 PA as an Oriole in 2019 and hit .208/.260/.322 with six home runs and 10 stolen bases. He hasn’t played in the bigs since then.

Go figure, de Grom and Woodruff lose 1-0 and 2-0 on a regular basis and BP pitchers throw no-no's,

They sure scored a weeks worth of runs today vs Cincy. They can hit that's for sure but to me the key will be their bullpen. They have solid starting pitching but imo their biggest weakness is their relief corps. I'm just happy they're exciting to watch this year but man I can't help but get the feeling they're going to fall off on an extended losing streak at some point like every team goes through.

Just for arguments sake, if you weight batting wRC+, starting pitching ERA, and relief pitching ERA evenly, the Dodgers and Padres are 1&2 on the list for all of MLB. SFG is near middle of pack --> Jrgum was right about their relief pitching being Achilles heal.

Most of us know of this simple handicapping (if you can call it handicapping) betting theory.
Wait until a team reaches either a 3 game losing streak or a 3 game winning streak.
Then on the fourth game of eithe win/loss streak tail the streak and keep betting it until the streak is broken.
Reason being more times than not a win/loss streak usually extends further than three, a lot of cases past five or six.

If you kept fading the KC Royals losing streak earlier starting with game four, you would have won eight straight before losing the ninth bet for a net of seven straight wins.
Of course the figure would probably be less than 7 units won since you'd be laying juice in at least four of those games, and probably five (I'm doing research on this streak now as we speak) but still even if you cleared say 5.8* that's nice coinage for very little thought involved in the handicapping process,

More on this later, but there is a lot of truth to tailing the streak after 3 games strategy.
