Pretty fired up after everything has settled down. The Padres traded a lot of pretty good prospects/players but they kept the young core in tact along with their top 5 prospects. Most of the guys that we traded were either blocked from getting to the majors/regular playing time or going to be eligible for the rule 5 draft next year. Preller and the boys did a pretty damn good job wheeling and dealing whilst not giving up any blue chippers.

#2838They did give up some good ones(Trammel, Arias, Cantillo). However, they managed to keep their top prospects and key young players already in the majors. I had read that The Indians were insisting on Cronenworth, Grisham or both in the Clevinger deal and very happy they did not give up either of them. Cronenworth has much better numbers but Grisham has been a key acquisition...he plays a great CF and draws a lot of walks and really works the pitcher even though his average is not that great his OBP is decent.Comment -

#2841MLB postpones Athletics-Mariners series finale out of 'abundance of caution'
Major League Baseball has postponed the Thursday finale of this week's three-game series between the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners.
The announcement came one day after MLB initially postponed games between the A's and Mariners on Tuesday and Wednesday in Seattle "out of an abundance of caution" after a member of Oakland's organization tested positive for COVID-19 this past weekend. Thursday's game has now also been postponed.Comment -

#2845Only in Coors Field can the Giants tie a franchise record for runs scored in a game in San Francisco history with 23. I mean I get the Giants have an improved offense this season but 23 runs is an absolute disgrace and quite frankly an embarrassment. The Rockies should be ashamed of themselves they're a joke.Comment -

#28460:51pm: Manager Ron Gardenhire said the Tigers expect Jones to miss the rest of the season, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic tweets. 9:58pm: Tigers outfielder JaCoby Jones exited the team’s game Tuesday after taking a pitch from the Brewers’ Phil Bickford off the left hand. It turns out Jones suffered a fracture, the Tigers announced.
With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, this should bring Jones’ 2020 to a close. If so, this will be the second straight year in which a fractured has ended Jones’ season. He went down in August 2019 after suffering a fractured left wrist on a hit by pitch.
Unlike last season, the Tigers actually have something to play for this year, making Jones’ injury that much more of a blow. After crushing the Brewers on Tuesday, they improved to 17-16 just one year after finishing with the majors’ worst record. The 28-year-old Jones has certainly factored into the Tigers’ unexpected turnaround, having batted .268/.333/.515 with five home runs in 108 plate appearances, though he has cooled off after a torrid start to the campaign.
Unfortunately, Detroit’s outfield has now taken multiple hits this week, which could decrease its chances of continuing this Cinderella run. The club weakened its depth in the grass Monday when it traded Cameron Maybin to the Cubs prior to the deadline. The Tigers then replaced Jones on Tuesday with Travis Demeritte, who took over in right field as Victor Reyes slid to center. Aside from Jones, Reyes is the only Tiger who has played multiple games in center this season.Comment -

There wasn't even 160 total point scored tonight in the Utah/Denver playoff game, but your know what?
It was one of the most enjoyable basketball games I've seen in awhile.
Who knew? Both teams played actual hard nosed defense, and the ending to that game was one for the ages too.
Go figure, a game decided by defense.Comment -

#2849No it wasn't I was watching a lot of games at once but had the Giants on in the background. Dickerson had 16 total bases including 3 home runs tonight tying a franchise record for total bases in a game set by Willie Mays. Solano, Dickerson and Crawford had 6 RBI's apiece which made them the first trio of teammates to have 6 RBI's in a single game.Last edited by jrgum3; 09-01-20, 11:42 PM.Comment -

#2863At 19-15 and firmly in the American League playoff race, the Astros have hung tough this season despite an array of health problems. Right-hander Jose Urquidy’s among the many players they have missed for an extended stretch, but it appears he could make his 2020 debut with a start Saturday, per manager Dusty Baker (via Brian McTaggart of MLB.com). Urquidy will throw a bullpen session in the meantime.
It’s hasn’t been disclosed why Urquidy has been unable to pitch this season, but regardless, he could be a welcome down-the-stretch pickup for Houston. The 25-year-old entered the majors a season ago and acquitted himself well over 41 innings, logging a 3.95 ERA/3.68 FIP with 8.78 K/9 and 1.54 BB/9. Urquidy averaged 93 mph-plus on his fastball and yielded a solid .285 weighted on-base average/.299 expected wOBA to opposing hitters in the process.
Should he slide back into Houston’s starting staff in the coming weeks, Urquidy would join a group that has received tremendous production from Zack Greinke and Framber Valdez. Those two have kept the Astros’ rotation afloat during a season in which they’ve largely gone without reigning AL Cy Young winner Justin Verlander, who has totaled just one start (back on July 24) because of forearm problems. The Astros have also turned to Lance McCullers Jr., Cristian Javier and Brandon Bielak for starts, but they’ve been a mixed bag in terms of run prevention and peripherals.Comment -
