The Blue Jays have placed outfielder Randal Grichuk on the 10-day DL, per a club announcement. He’s dealing with a knee sprain that is likely to cost him at least three weeks or so, as MLB.com’s Gregor Chisholm notes on Twitter.
Toronto will promote infielder Gift Ngoepe to take the open spot on the active roster. That’ll likely be a temporary measure, as Josh Donaldson could soon be ready to return to the majors.
The move comes as Grichuk, who was acquired over the winter, has struggled badly out of the gates. The out-of-options 26-year-old is carrying a hard-to-fathom .106/.208/.227 slash through 77 plate appearances.
With Teoscar Hernandez emerging in recent weeks, Grichuk has increasingly found himself on the bench. Presuming Grichuk ends up on a rehab assignment, he’ll have a chance to try to find a groove in the minors before returning to the MLB roster.

Bryce Harper on getting walked over and over. "I'm 25 years old. I want to hit." Harper leads MLB with a 38 walks and is on pace for 212 free passes, which would be the second highest single-season ever behind Barry Bonds (232 in 2004). He has six intentional walks in his last six games.

They were long overdue for a regression. Injuries are piling up.

Braves pitching prospect made his debut against the Mets.

                              Ohtani batted fifth for Anaheim.

8:23pm: Giants GM Bobby Evans tells Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic that Cueto has been dealing with some elbow discomfort for at least a couple of starts but is not presently scheduled for an MRI (Twitter link). “We are getting our heads wrapped around it now,” the GM said. “We’re still trying to understand where he’s at.”
8:04pm: The Giants have placed right-hander Johnny Cueto on the 10-day disabled list due to inflammation in his right elbow, the team told reporters (Twitter link via Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area).
It’s yet another costly injury for a Giants team that is currently without Madison Bumgarner, Joe Panik, Mark Melancon and Mac Williamson, among others. Lefty Andrew Suarez is up to step into Cueto’s rotation spot, rounding out a starting mix that also includes Jeff Samardzija, Derek Holland, Ty Blach and Chris Stratton.
Even a brief absence for Cueto is a notable hit to the Giants, considering the level of utter dominance put forth by Cueto thus far in what was shaping up to be a rebound campaign. After missing much of the 2017 season due to a forearm issue (and struggling when healthy), Cueto opened the year with a superlative 0.84 ERA, 7.3 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, 0.28 HR/9 and a 45 percent ground-ball rate through 32 innings. With Bumgarner shelved for the first two months of the season, Cueto had stepped up and filled those considerable shoes, providing the Giants with a much-needed ace atop a shakier bunch of two-through-five starters.

This is a rather underrated stat regarding the Yankees' recent success. After allowing at least two earned runs in 10 of its first 18 games, the Yankees' bullpen has allowed one earned run or less in 11 straight games. The ‘pen is currently working a 21-inning scoreless streak across the past five-plus games. Longer outings from starters have helped the bullpen stay relatively fresh in recent weeks. New York hopes to get a similar start from Luis Severino after last night's bullpen game.

I hope this post jinx them...
