Justin Verlander Should be Back in Tigers' Rotation Next Week (Around June 5)
He threw a simulated game yesterday (Tuesday) and is slated to make a minor league rehab start Sunday. As long as there are no complications, that puts him on line to join the Tigers' rotation next Friday, June 5th.

I feel like Verlander is past his glory days. Once the likes of Kershaw, we will see how he bounces back

Plus he's getting paid $28M per year until 2019 guaranteed. Looking like a terrible contract for the Tigers.

That's good news, now he can end his career with a 4.00 + ERA. Last two years I think he was close to 5.00 +. LOL.

Verlander is getting a second rehab start for Toledo Saturday. He threw 79 pitches in his first start Sunday and is expected to throw 85-90 on Saturday, after which he could be deemed ready ready to come off the DL and join the Tigers' rotation. His velocity was good in his first start as he hit 96 MPH, but his command was not as he only went 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits plus two walks and also hitting a batter.

                                                  or both...

no point in bringing your ace up to the show when your team is on a losing streak

you don't want the losing vibes to rub off on verlander

Justin Verlander (triceps) fanned nine hitters while allowing just one unearned run Saturday in a rehab start for Triple-A Toledo.

He threw 93 pitches over 5 2/3 innings, topping out at 94 mph on his fastball. Verlander struggled in his first rehab start but he looked ready for the majors this time around. Expect the former AL MVP to make his season debut sometime next week.

94 mph is decent but his days of being a true ace are over.

Not a true ace anymore, that's price.

topping out at 94 is gas but not the elite mlb gas ace pitchers need unless they have movement. He will need to become more of a pitcher than a power thrower

Maybe they should trade him to the cubs.
