Report: Adrian Peterson Will Not Report to Vikings' OTAs

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Adrian Peterson will be a no-show for the start of Vikings Organized Team Activities (OTAs).

The Pio Press cites a "source" that is likely Peterson's agent. Peterson's concern with the Vikings has long been their perceived lack of loyalty toward him during last year's investigation for child abuse. Still, the draft came and went without a Peterson trade, which showed loyalty on the Vikings' behalf. If Peterson indeed skips OTAs, he will forfeit a $250,000 workout bonus. The Vikings hold a series of OTAs on June 2-4 and 8-11, and a mandatory minicamp on June 16-18.

Adrian Peterson's agent hinted at a holdout in a Monday text message to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole.

"He is very very strong," Peterson's agent said. "He's like (Darrelle) Revis." Revis, of course, has become famous for winning contractual showdowns. Peterson seems to believe the Vikings committed an unforgivable sin by siding too closely with the NFL as his child-abuse scandal unfolded last fall. To date, the Vikings have been steadfast that AD will be in Minnesota this season. Peterson won't really be turning up the heat until he skips next month's minicamp and training camp.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Adrian Peterson's beef with the Vikings is now that he wants guaranteed money in 2016.

Peterson doesn't have any guaranteed money in his current deal. He wants the team to guarantee a chunk -- or perhaps all ($14.75 million) -- of his 2016 salary, when Peterson will be 31 years old. After paying Peterson his entire salary to play just one game in 2014, it wouldn't be surprising if the Vikings were a bit resistant to making him this commitment.
