Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson Could End Up at Florida State

Was rumored to be going to Georgia or South Carolina, but SEC has stricter transfer rules and not sure Golson qualifies for a waiver.

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said the school is currently "negotiating" with Notre Dame graduate transfer QB Everett Golson.

"We’re negotiating, we’re talking right now," Fisher said. "We’re going through things. Staying in contact with him." Fisher is talking about playing time. Golson is probably -- and understandably, given his skill level -- seeking some sort of assurance that he will be the starter wherever he goes. To make that happen, Florida State would have to bypass Sean Maguire, currently sitting atop the depth chart. Fisher has said the Seminoles won't toss Maguire aside to Golson. The guess here is that Fisher is trying to sell Golson on the idea of a fair competition for the gig. We think Golson would win that fight fairly easily.

No, you didn't. He was probably thinking of Braxton Miller who was also rumored to transfer to Florida State. Bunch of hamburgers in here. FSU is an SEC team in the ACC. They don't rebuild they reload. Golston will be starting. Linebacker depth developing into a problem at FSU though...

Was talking to Travis Rudolph the other day. He's obviously pumped about the season. Golston never had anyone like him to throw to. Dumbass players give guys like him a bad name. Was polite and very humble. He looks more like a linebacker than receiver... Kid is going to be an NFL player one day.

Talked to someone in the program today. Golston will be starting. Said he has some bad habits he picked up at Notre Dame that Jimbo is getting out of his system. Say what you want about Jimbo but his last 3 qbs have been first round picks.

Said the defense has looked great but the oline has sucked. No more than 2 losses but not as good as they were the last 2 years.
