Nothing is official yet but Dallas has emerged as frontrunner for his services. The guy still leads the NBA in assists THIS season with practically nothing around him.

He has nothing around him because nobody wants to PLAY with him. Trade him to LBJ team, he could use the assists. LOL.

The Celtics just gave him away. Jameer should of signed with the Rockets.

The Mavericks get a steal here for nothing. Rondo makes them a title contender.

I already liked Dallas as a sleeper to make it to the finals, but this has to really help their chances. They've gotten much better since last year (adding Parsons, Chandler, and now Rondo) when they took the Spurs to 7 games. PG was their only weak spot in the starting 5, now their starting 5 is incredibly solid. Brandon Wright has been good off the bench so they are losing some depth at PF/C, but with Devin Harris playing well they shouldn't miss Jameer too much.

It will likely take them some time to adjust, but Rondo should be a good fit, and the thought of a distributor like him surrounded by Ellis/Dirk/Parsons is a scary thing.

I just threw out a few finals bets at some nice odds:

                      Dallas vs. Cleveland +1920
                      Dallas vs. Toronto +9000
                      Dallas vs. Washington +12750

The Boston Celtics traded former All-Star guard Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Dallas wants to make a run at a championship with the aging Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler still playing at high levels. The Mavericks will pair Rondo with explosive guard Monta Ellis in the backcourt.

Rajon Rondo was with the Celtics since 2006. (USA TODAY Sports)

Dallas will send forward Brandan Wright, guards Jameer Nelson and Jae Crowder, a 2015 first-round pick and a 2016 second-round pick to Boston for Rondo and rookie forward Dwight Powell. There are lottery protections on the 2015 first-round pick headed to Boston, sources said.

Rondo, 28, will be a free agent in July and his agent, Bill Duffy, gave the Mavericks a strong indication that Rondo would be inclined to sign a contract extension to stay with Dallas this summer, sources said.

From Boston, always a Celtic fan and over his career have always appreciated Rondo.
Think he will be a good fit.
BUT, as I am sure everyone knows this guys dances to a different drummer and comes with large baggage.
Has been known to disappear. Never got over the Perk trade, so tends to hold onto things and take things very personally.

Like it on both sides as I feel with the picks the C`s have stockpiled ( Nets and now Mavs 1st 2015) their future could be bright.

Jameer got screwed badly, he signed with Dallas because he wanted to play for a contender and now he gets traded to another rebuilding team.

Should've included a no trade clause in contract. Probably took guaranteed $ instead.

Rondo is one of the few players who can take over a 7 game series by himself. Looking forward to him vs westbrook and Paul this summer.

I was impressed that the Mavs pulled this deal off without giving up a starter.

Yeah, they did not have to give up much to get Rondo. Worth the gamble whether it works out or not.

He never would've signed had they known he wasn't in their plans
You think they knew theyed get Rondo before the season started? You gotta make your team as strong as you can, having Jameer as a backup pg is strong at that position, he probably doesnt mind it as much he's been in the league what at least 10 years, much better than starting on a team going nowhere.

Kenny Smith and Chris Webber were on the radio saying how no Free Agents will go to Dallas bc they constantly lie to their players. They screwed Jameer really hard.
