#2Yes! I had been following this for a couple weeks. Posted about it in our Pirates thread on here that comes and goes in PT. Was a good fit. Bucs need some more potential pop in the lineup and he'll likely platoon with Sanchez. Mets made no bones that Duda was their man at 1b. Mets get AAA reliever Zack Thornton and a PTBNL. I think this is a sneaky decent move for PIT potentially if Ike clears his head. Think a fresh start was needed and now they have a good mix and match situation at 1B.Comment -

#7saw an interview with Ike right after the trade, guy looked crushed. Literally had watery eyes during the entire interview.
Always liked him, hopefully it works out for him in PittComment -

#14Mets continue to show they are the dumbest fukks ever.
3 years ago when this awful overrated jerkoff came up and was slapping hr's, they had offers out the ass for him and they turned everything down. His stock was high and anyone with a clue could see through the hot start and notice the massive hole in his swing and could comprehend he will never hit lefties, period.
Total scrub, stands at the plate like he's afraid to get hit by a pitch.
Will never be higher than a .230 hitter in this league, and his defense isn't anything special.
The fact he's not in the minors still amazes me.
Good job Mets owners, you got a pack of napkins and a box of sunflower seeds for him now.
Teams were offering 1st round picks and stud prospects for him a cpl years ago.Comment -

#18most likely a 2013 draftee
read alot of opinions thinking it will be SS Jacoby Jones as the Met's Alderson is said to want a nice shortstop high upside prospect in the system.Comment -

#19I'd be okay with that. Jones is raw and strikes out a ton. He can definitely hit, but he looks to be several years away from being on a MLB 40 man roster unless something clicks quick for him. Pirates need help now IMO and this gives them another bat - whether he's productive or not, we'll see.
Honestly my impression of the deal is they got a guy who should be in the prime of his career and needed a fresh start. All the stories you read about Ike said that he was really struggling when the Mets made it clear they didn't want him. PNC Park should help him. I think he'll embrace this chance. He doesn't have to hit 30 HRs and drive in 90 for this to be a good deal and won't since he'll be platooning. Thornton was obviously just a throw in, I saw he was left unprotected for the Rule 5 draft and no one took him.
Certainly interested to see the PTBNL.Comment -
