His numbers haven't been that great, but he can still pitch. Gives his team a chance to win.

Cap will betaking Dempsters long relief spot, Dempster told the Sox he is taking the year off and doesnt feel like he is ready to pitch...........Nice guy was due to make 14 million, so by signing Cap we are still saving 12 million this year...I wish more guys were like Dempster........

This doesn't strike me as a great move, it seems to me that he will get lit up in Boston.

5th starter or fill in is fine for him.

Ridiculous. If he doesn't get it done, the Red Sox have any number of top prospects (Brandon Workman, Henry Owens, Matt Barnes, etc.) that could fill the #5 spot. And even if they don't get much at all out of the #5 spot, what if the other 4 starters have great seasons? Ridiculous statement.

They have Felix Doubrant as well for a 5th starter option. So I'd say it isn't an issue.

lets not overreact here, this is just a signing for some depth with dempster not pitching this year. while I do think he is not a great fit for the AL east, especially in the friendly confines of fenway, this is a pretty low risk signing and will definitely not sink their chances at the playoffs...

Gil Meche did then same thing...Capuano is an under rated pitcher. He's battled injuries his whole career

Good luck with him. As a Dodger fan I saw how bad he can struggle. He had a decent stretch before he started giving up 5+ runs a game.
