Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.
A few hours later, rumors popped up that the bidding was down to the Cubs and Yankees and that the Cubs' offer was much greater than that of every other team that has entered the pursuit.

then what? They do better than the 66-96 record? Maybe .500?

Not in 2014 but in 2015, yes and better. Cubs have a top 4 position prospect at every position except catcher. 4 in the top 25 and 2 more in the top 50. A couple of them (Baez and Bryant) could be up mid-summer 2014. Time will tell. But obviously not contenders in 2014.

The only team that can probably snake the Cubs is the Yankees, but the Cubs have the biggest offer on the table.
And the Yankees did by adding seventh year and raising to over 22 mill per year with an opt out. Cubs offer was six years, 120 mill.

He may have leaked the Cubs' offer himself hoping that ANYBODY would come in higher.

The sad thing is this contract is still just money they find under the proverbial couch cushions.

Not really "misinformation". The Cubs were the frontrunners at the time the thread was started and the Yankees upped their offer later.

You think money grows on trees. They already gave Kershaw a boat load of money.

I don't need the free point, but yeah, speculation would be a better word.

I guess the Japanese guy didn't figure in taxes when he choose the Yankees.
Looks like he will lose half of his contract to taxes.

All that money the Cubs make and it never seems like they break the bank for any star players. Cant remember the last big star they signed.
