He will not sign with the Cubs.

There are 2 teams he has a chance of signing with: The Dodgers or the Yankees

This will be huge for Chicago if they can get it done. All they need is 2 serious starters

The only team that can probably snake the Cubs is the Yankees, but the Cubs have the biggest offer on the table.

A few hours later, rumors popped up that the bidding was down to the Cubs and Yankees and that the Cubs' offer was much greater than that of every other team that has entered the pursuit.

Not in 2014 but in 2015, yes and better. Cubs have a top 4 position prospect at every position except catcher. 4 in the top 25 and 2 more in the top 50. A couple of them (Baez and Bryant) could be up mid-summer 2014. Time will tell. But obviously not contenders in 2014.

A-Rod's juice allowed Yanks to sign Tanaka.

And the Yankees did by adding seventh year and raising to over 22 mill per year with an opt out. Cubs offer was six years, 120 mill.

He may have leaked the Cubs' offer himself hoping that ANYBODY would come in higher.

The sad thing is this contract is still just money they find under the proverbial couch cushions.

Not really "misinformation". The Cubs were the frontrunners at the time the thread was started and the Yankees upped their offer later.

He should have signed with dodgers. Better park and less pressure as Kershaw is the Ace
