Emilio Bonifacio is on an absolute tear to start the season for the Cubs.

He is 9-12, good for a robust .750 batting average!

Todd Frazier hits 2 home runs and drives in 4 and the Reds still lose to the Cards.

Billy Hamilton going to have a hard time stealing bases if stays on this pace. 6 strikeouts in 12 at-bats,

          no hits, and one walk.

Now this is one big surprise out of the gates. Obviously it will tank at some point, but fun riding out for now. He's running about any chance he gets since he's been picked off 2 times on top of his 3 or so stolen bases.

So the Pirates manage an entire 7 runs in 3 games against the Cubs pitching staff.

Last night the Pirates plate 12 runs against the Cardinals pitching staff.

Go figure, baseball is a funny game!

Hopefully the Buccos bats have awakened for good...

Emilio goes 2-5 yesterday and carries a lofty .542 BA into today's game against Philadelphia.

It will be fun to see how long he can hang above the .500 mark.

Interesting (and sad) that he hasn't recorded an RBI yet. The Cubs offense is simply awful!

He sure is! What a start, I don't think many expected this from him!

Ryan Braun goes yard 3 times at Philadelphia.

Bartolo Colon tosses a gem as the Mets shutout the Braves, 4-0.

Enter Danks, whose 5 HR and .333 BA (42 AB) in 2014 spring training make it appear he's a new threat to their PT. Despite the nice-looking numbers, Danks averaged a K every 3 AB and has followed it up at Triple-A Charlotte with 11 K in 22 AB and a .182 BA (1 HR). -Mike Shears

In reality, all of these committee members project to better skills than the groundballer Johnson. But with OAK making Johnson one of the highest paid members of the team, they are committed to him as the closer long term. So at least for now, expect him to return to the role after a couple of good outings in low-pressure situations. -Rod Truesdell

SP Brad Hand took Turner's rotation spot Wednesday, and he figures to remain in the rotation until Turner returns. Turner could be activated as early as April 18, meaning he could only miss two starts. Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Juan C. Rodriguez

In the meantime, Brad Hand is the likely replacement. If Turner is out for long, Hand may only be in the rotation until one of the Marlins' prospects is deemed a better option. Hand had very good 2013 surface stats over 21 MLB innings, but his xERA was a run higher than his 3.05 ERA and his BPV was only 44. -Phil Hertz

But his track record for durability is terrible in recent years, and he'll likely make us reset his PT/IP in a few weeks. He's worth a flyer only for fantasy owners who desperately need starting pitching and can take a risk. -Jock Thompson
