Ya he looked sharp. Good movement on the fastball. Braves didn't stand a chance

Glad Valverde has started the season nicely. I was a little surprised nobody signed him and the Tigers were going a different route heading into the year.

Biggest test will be how he responds after blowing one.

Man he did look good last night. I don't know how his arm will hold during the long haul.

It is common for guys who have had time off to come out strong but then fade toward the end. I think he alos needs to get in betters shape.

He is definitely pitching well. May not be a horrible time to shop him if you can afford it, the wheels will come off the buggy...

Too bad the tigers can't play the Astros every series, wouldn't even need a closer.

Valverde shows how mediocre you can be and pitch in the majors. Starters have to go multiple innings, and their weakness' will be shown over time. Relievers go one inning, sometimes one batter, and their inadaquacies can be hidden due to limited exposure. Valverde still is terrible. The ball is always in play, its just going directly towards the fielders. Nobody is swinging, and missing.

Yep, even some of his saves were rocky. Can't do much with 1 pitch that isn't very good.

If you managed to get him on the waiver wire he's already been worth the pickup.

The game-tying hit he allowed Sunday was the first hit he allowed this year, so I'd say so far so good....But I still don't quite trust him.

well the valverde train is coming to a screeching halt...the guy is one or two more blown saves away from being flat out released, its a shame too because he started out so well. i just traded him and kris medlen for tim hudson and rex brothers in my league, i more made the trade for hudson, preparing incase medlen and valverde are both no longer relevant soon...

if possible, try to get something for valverde soon. word out of tigers camp is they want to give bruce rondon, their opening day closer, another extended look...he has a ~1 ERA in the minors right now. keep an eye out
