You won't get any five-tool guys that contribute in EVERY category in the later rounds.

That means nothing. This is based on league rankings and not on raw differential in HRs, RBI, etc., and the difference in Trouts SB ranking over Cabrera will be bigger than the difference in the triple crown categories.

        Right

        Typical week from Miggy

        HR 9
        RBI 9
        Avg 7
        R 6
        SB 0

        Typical week from Trout

        HR 6
        RBI 6
        Avg 8
        R 9
        SB 9

        Who had the better week?

Again, this is fantasy baseball scoring, and let's not forget Bautista is back 100 percent, that'll take away some power rankings away from Miggy.

          I would go with Cabrera.

He's never hurt and consistent as can be.

I'm a Miggy fan myself, he'll average 32 to 34 points a week (about 8.5 out of 10) in the combined BA, R, RBI, and HR categories. But ZERO in the SB category for a total of 32 to 34 (out of 50) a week.

Trout will average about 28 to 31 (about 7 out of 10) in the combined BA, R, RBI, and HR categories.
However he'll average 8 out 10 a week in SB's. (Figure Gardner and a couple of others will steal bases as well and could out steal Trout in any given week)
So even if Trout gets 29 points in the other categories besides SB's, figure 8 more for the SB's for a 36-37 point week.

One more thing, speed, unlike hitting, never slumps.
            Never.

You guys have me rethinking about Trout.
I really hope I don't have to make this decision come draft day.

                      Not a problem.
This is my passion, (border line obsession) I used to do this stuff when I was growing up with pencil and graph paper.
Love baseball, so does my wife (or I never would have married her)

I think I'm going to run a season long thread, I'm thinking it through now, it'll probably be all inclusive, fantasy, wagering, stats, stuff like that. Like an all in one thread.

Last season I made a separate thread for each game I played, may make just one on going thread.
                      Stay tuned

I know Kershaw, Verlander, and Strasburg are great pitchers, But I can not draft them in the first round.
Or any other, I try to load up in middle/later rounds. And look for sleepers.
Also keeping an eye on waivers and pick up surprise pitchers.

No pitcher should be drafted in the first round, simply because they don't play every day.

If a Bob Gibson, or Sandy Koufax elite type was available in the fourth round, I'd consider it, but no pitcher should be drafted before round four.

I'd take Cabrera but only because Trout is young and you can't predict what kinda year he might have whereas you know Cabrera has a proven track record.
