No, I don't think this will result in the death penalty per se. But no one is going to want to coach there or play there for awhile. If you were an 18 year stud recruit, why would you want to play under this cloud that is going to be over this program for the next 2 years at least as far as legal issues and many more years after that as far as reputation issues. I mean, my god, if it comes out that this guy was raping kids on campus for years and years, this is going to be a straight up public relations nightmare that Penn State as a school might have trouble overcoming. Just very sad all the way around.
Paterno isn't going to survive this scandal

#179agreed lta.. I've been around football since I was 5 years old, just having a difficult time wrapping my head around it all. Just krazy krazy krazy... I did read the grand jury case... just want all the facts regarding everything come out first before making a. judgment ... think everyone would be better off.. the press conference tomorrow should be interesting to say the leastComment -

#180Serious question, how awkward is that for the players now and in the future, every time you are in the football locker room taking a shower, it's gotta be hard to not be thinking about the nasty disgusting acts that were committed in there... Seriously that's fd upComment -

#185I think you're going a tad overboard...the current players have nothing to do with this...but the media and public vultures will continue chopping away at it until they get what they want. The students on campus are already circulating petitions for Spanier and Paterno to resign.Comment -

#188yeah generally a person doesn't have a duty to report a crime.
i remember reading this case where a guy walked in on his buddy raping some underage girl in a casino bathroom. he just walked out and didn't say anything. he couldn't be charged with a crime because he didn't have a duty to report it.
i don't remember the case name though.Comment -

#196Paterno has EVERYTHING to do with this.
If you're the head coach and a graduate assistant is reporting that your assistant coaching is banging some 12 yr old kid in the ass in the shower what are you going to do? Especially considering your assistant coach has a history of child molestation charges.
Fukk Paterno. He should burn. Tressel turned a blind eye to some players selling jerseys. Paterno turned a blind eye to a member of his coaching staff fukking little boys in the ass in the lockerroom.
Don't for a second buy into that Paterno didn;t know. He knew of the previous charges and he knew about the shower incident accusation. Plus the assistant coach is using Penn States Football Facilities to sexually molest and rape the boy (s). Its absolutely insane. The only people who would turn a blind eye to this are peodophiles as well. Don't count that out. Paterno most likely is one too.
Paterno's reaction: "he had us fooled"
Wow. You definitely have to be sherlock holmes to figure that a guy that:
a) has been accused of child molestation a number of times by young boys, parents and third party witnesses b) admitted to taking a shower with a young boy and "possibly" touching him inappropriately
c) chooses to spend a majority of his time working with a youth boys
= Peodophile
I dont care if the guy is your best friend - no one protects someone else when it comes to child molestation. Thats beyond sick and twisted. Boycott Penn State until Paterno is hung from the rafters.
Bring the hammer down with zero mercy if this is all turns out to be true.Comment -

#200Actually I do because I have coached before in competitive ASA softball. If a fellow coach/parent/fan or anyone ever harmed one of the children, or if a child reported to me someone was hurting them, I would take action. Most likely it would have been a beat down before reporting to the authorities. A name like "Dirty Sanchez" might suggest you condone rape or abuse of children.Comment -

#207They all should burn, Sandusky will get his in prison, For him to prey on children that were in a program for kids that had nothing to begin with is appauling. This Charity that Sandusky ran helped under-privilegded children, many like the young men that get recruited in the first place, I would understand if the players demanded to have a different coach. I know I would not be willing to play for a coach that sat by and did the minimum. Its a pharse for grown men who are supposed to be instilling a higher morale standard in young men, preaching "do the right thing no matter what" to stand by and allow a monster to exploit the innocent is un-forgiveable. If I am a parent of a recruit being sot after by Penn St. no way does he or she go there. The people involved in this is so wide spread its shocking. Human nature would ensure that a whole bunch more knew about/of these allegations or rumors, That to clean house would be an understatemnet. Oh yeah, the wish to hire a "big name coach" not a chance in hell any coach with a half a brain touches this. I hope justice is served to all involved.Comment -
