The drinking age should be moved to 16 so kids can learn to drink in public with their parents.

#142It's not just learning to drink it's learning responsibility and maturing. Most of these kids don't have parents worth a shit who teach them ANYTHING, much less teach them how to drink responsibily. Lack of parenting is the problem in most cases.Comment -

#143Well. guess what? We've got our selves a North Carolin player in trouble. Surprised?
Albemarle police say the All-Atlantic Coast Conference player was cited Saturday morning for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop. It’s a misdemeanor charge because it was less than a half-ounce of the drug.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder was not taken into custody.
“We are disappointed in Quan’s actions over the weekend,” Tar Heels coach Butch Davis said in a statement released Monday. “This is not the type of behavior we expect from our student-athletes. In addition to the outcome of the legal process, he also will face disciplinary action from within the football program beginning immediately.”
Sturdivant led the team with 79 tackles and was second with 12 tackles for a loss.Comment -

#145Look here, Notre Dame made the blotter
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP)—The son of former Notre Dame standout Joe Montana was among 11 Fighting Irish athletes arrested on misdemeanor charges of underage drinking at a party Friday night.
A total of 44 people were arrested after city police responded to a call about a fight near a roadway and discovered the party, said St. Joseph County Police assistant chief Bill Redman.
Two non-athletes face a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to minors. The arrests were handled by state excise police, who didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment on Saturday.
The most recognizable athletes arrested were Nate Montana, a walk-on who was the backup to starter Dayne Crist coming out of the spring, and Tim Abromaitis, the second leading scorer on the Irish basketball team at 16.1 points a game last season.
Montana spent last season as a backup at Pasadena City (Calif.) College. Several incoming freshmen are expected to compete with him for the No. 2 spot when practice begins next month.
The other athletes arrested were wide receivers Robby Toma and Tai-ler Jones, linebacker Steve Filer, kicker Nick Tausch, cornerback Lo Wood, and offensive linemen Chris Watt and Tate Nichols; incoming freshman point guard Eric Atkins; and incoming hockey goalie Steven Summerhays.
Most of those arrested had been released on $150 bond, Redman said. They are scheduled to make court appearances July 30.
If convicted, each faces a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said he was aware of the arrests and was gathering information.
“If there is any team-related discipline to be issued, it would be handled internally,” he said.
Bernie Cafarelli, Notre Dame’s sports information director, said basketball coach Mike Brey also would handle any punishment internally.Comment -

#148Evidently Coach Holliday doesn't mess with them. And my hats off to him.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. --Marshall University defensive back DeQuan Bembry has been kicked off the school's football team, some three months after his arrest outside a West Virginia bar.
Coach Doc Holliday announced Bembry's dismissal in a news release Sunday morning. The one-line statement said Holliday was "very disappointed in DeQuan."
Bembry and fellow defensive back T.J. Drakeford had been arrested on misdemeanor charges in April as police cleared several Huntington bars because of fights.
Bembry had been charged with assault on a police officer and underage alcohol consumption, both misdemeanors. Police said he had verbally assaulted an officeComment -

#150Meanwhile, back at theFlorida Correctional Institute, aka Florida State:
From the AP:
"TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State's Nigel Carr is facing suspension while authorities sort out a handful of charges against the junior linebacker from Jacksonville, including two felony charges.
The 20-year-old was arrested by Tallahassee police Sunday on two counts of auto burglary, criminal mischief, credit card theft and fraud. The report also noted Carr was arrested July 22 for possession of marijuana.
Coach Jimbo Fisher, who is in North Carolina for the annual Atlantic Coast Conference football kickoff gala, says the university's policy is to suspend athletes facing felony charges.
Carr was named the Seminoles most dependable linebacker in spring practice and was slated to begin the season as their starting strong side linebacker."
And Florida State fans thought that things would change when they canged wardens, er head coaches.Comment -

In biology, a genus (plural: genera) is a low-level rank used in the classification of living and fossil which is an example of definition by genus and differentia. The term comes from Latin "descent, family, type, gender",[1] cognate with Greek: γένος – race, stock, kin".[2]
