    Casinos Without Poker Rooms
Why the hell would a casino not have a poker room?

    1. More popular than blackjack and all the other gambling games under the sun.
    2. Guaranteed winner for the casino due to rake.
    3. Looks like a more reputable casino with a poker room.

Just don't understand from any stand point. Business man, gambler, anyone

They can't rig the games in their favor with a poker room, so the rake won't get them their points back as quickly. It would be nice though if they would have a poker room.

There are a lot of reasons. For casinos with limited floorspace, they can make more money with slots, vp, and pit games than poker. That's not so much an issue for larger casinos with expansive floor space, but many large casinos choose not to have poker rooms for other reasons. For example, the New York New York casino in Las Vegas (which is owned by MGM Mirage) does not have a poker room, probably because NYNY is surrounded by other MGM Mirage casinos that all have poker rooms. There's no reason for MGM to dilute the poker players between all their hotels when they can congregate in other MGM rooms without risk of NYNY customers walking to a different company's casino.

I remember when Mohegan Sun closed its poker room at one point to make space for nickel slots. They sent out this letter talking about the whole thing.

I can understand that a poker room won't bring as much as a few slots, but you need to have different niches in a property. No poker room makes the poker guy whose wife would have mailed it in on slots go somewhere else instead.
