I'm with you on Bradley. When they fought together not that long ago -- it was a VERY, VERY close battle. Worth watching if you haven't seen it.

#37Damn, I never knew Bradley and Pierce ever fought.
I wasn't impressed at all with Bradley against Natal. He appeared quite one-dimensional, with sloppy striking and predictable takedowns. He also seemed to have cardio problems.
Pierce on the other hand lost to a Hendricks who is FAR from mediocre, and he gave Fitch a run for his money in their fight.
I think Pierce wins this fight by TKO with his superior striking, but maybe you guys know more about Bradley than I do. I've only seen one fight of his.Comment -

#39Bare in mind Bradley took the Natal fight at short notice and at 185.
Also, I read that this fight is going to be at 185?Comment -

#61Can anyone see Cain/JDS going 5 rounds?...
I have a parlay with Cain/JDS not going 5 rounds and Bendo straight up.
I'll be very surprised if either one doesn't hit.
I can see an early finish from either fighter, and I can also see Cain finishing JDS if the fight goes to the later rounds.Comment -

I've got Cain-JDS not distance in 3 parlays @ -350, dating as far back as early September - when I first saw it posted. I'm really surprised it's only moved to -380 since then. (It's the last closing leg in all 3 parlays)...
I'm leaning toward agreement with your last statement... Though, this almost seems too easy, eh... Both these guys have 80+ % finish rates, and this being a 5-rounder, I'm still digging the not distance prop.
Would like to hear some contrarian viewpoints... (Perhaps, JDS has a remarkable guard that will neutralize Cain's top game (assuming Cain gets JDS down); or does JDS have the TDD to keep the fight standing to a points decision for either guy???)Comment -

#63Out of 23 combined fights, only JDS has been stopped, 5 years ago. Just playing Devils advocate. Cigano seems very durable, rarely looks beat up. May last the five without a stoppage if Cain GnPs him. Likely not, but I wouldnt play it myself.Comment -

Well the obvious argument that could be made is that neither of these guys have ever been finished (well TKO'd anyway) so we may find out that Dos Santos has a Noguerian survival instinct or something along those lines. This could also turn out to be a Junior boxing clinic if Cain can't take Junior down or keep him down. Even with their great cardio either of these guys could punch themselves out and then lack the finishing power for the rest of the fight. JDS couldn't finish Nelson or Carwin so I wouldn't be surprised that if he wins this fight that it goes to decision (and no I don't think Cain's chin is as good as Nelson's but he has the quickness and wrestling to hang on while he's hurt).
I'd much rather take Cain inside the distance or straight up. These are two evenly matched fighters (oddswise) who haven't been TKOed, so I think taking it at -380 is a mistake.Comment -

Both Leben and JDS have great chins and are durable but there is only so much damage one can take in a 5 round fight. Penn has an incredible chin and very rarely gets finished, but if that was a 5 round fight, I would have a very tough time seeing it not ending inside the distance.
In the third round of the Nelson fight, JDS was pretty gassed. Now replace an equally gassed Nelson with cardio machine in Velasquez and you could very well have a doctor's stoppage or TKO.
Plus take into consideration the fact that JDS has never really been damaged inside the octagon because his skill level has always been so much higher than his opponents. When was the last time you saw JDS come close to losing a round? That type of flawlessness and dominance will not last against Velasquez, an equally skilled fighter.Last edited by Vitooch; 11-09-11, 12:47 AM.Comment -

#66Someone said something about jds' guard. Cain is something special. He's probably the king of gnp...yet he is never in someones guard. I don't ever recall seeing him in someones guard. He beats you up in the transitions where usually there is frantic scrambling but cain is in full control...holding on to you and punching your face as you struggle to get up, only to instantly be thrown back on the ground when you do and having the cycle repeated until you break. Other than jds landing the cleanest punch of his life, I don't see how he wins.Comment -

#68Disinformation people. If you really believe that the books are sharper because they are using this forum for a pulse and not because the sport is getting more popular and they have to be sharper then we should at least give it a go. We can think of a code to work into the post so we all know. If anything it would be kinda fun to do some secret agent type stuff.
Having said that Bradley is quite underrated. He had a tough fight against Natal while Pierce got tooled by a mediocre Hendricks. I think Bradley will use his wrestling advantage to keep Pierce down and win an easy decision.Comment -

#69i had pierce win against hendricks. But from the last matchup i do agree that bradley have a wrestling advantage. He controlled pierce when he went for a takedown or clinched, but when pierce tried the same, he was not successful. But i dont think having a slight wrestling advantage will be enough, while pierce standup edge was sufficient back then, it probably going to be enough now.Comment
