Hey McFarland! Wake up! You're in!
Single, double, walk, grand slam....
Make these guys sit in the dugout.

I was thinking about this earlier when Seattle's closer came in and couldn't throw a strike. How invested could he have actually been in the game today? He's in hiding for nearly three full hours, sitting 500 feet from home plate, then they have him come into a driving rainstorm and ask him to suddenly get serious about a game I'm sure he had very little interest in as it was happening. Meanwhile, his teammates are a football field plus away, right next to the action in the dugout.
I just feel like it's no coincidence you get shit effort from these relievers who are detached from reality until their number is called.

Before everything was about seats and corporations and sponsorships and any and everything related to money, bullpens weren't an afterthought. They weren't tucked away in the corner of a stadium -- they were right next to the action. You don't have to give a reliever who's already shitty enough not to be a starter or a closer incentive to be even less connected and involved in a game. It'd be like if you brought an NFL kicker out of a locker room to try and make a game winner -- they're sheltered and quirky enough as it is. Why enable that?
