    Serious Question, need HELP
Is it possible to create some kind of power ratings system for MLB and be able to use it instead of constantly worrying about how Batter A hits against Pitcher B and so on? Looking at Sagarin right now for some ideas on developing a power ratings system. Any other sites like Sagarin?

Yes but people are not going to just get it out freely.

I'm sure some of the more sophisticated groups are using databases with hitter stats adjusted for park, home/away, and pitchers faced. That way they aren't running into sample size errors. Even if a batter faces a pitcher 50 times in his career, his stats aren't really statistically significant...

That being said, unless you create your own DB, nobody is likely to give you that information unless you pay up for it...

He's right. It takes a lot of time setting it up, organizing existing data, programming to make life easier, and then finally...analysis.

yeah, to be honest I'm thinking of running a NCAAB like power ratings system. Rate all the hitters, SP, average RP minus closer and setup man, and set up men and closers. Rate them all on a 100 point scale and add it up and the totals up. if it ended up like 1000/1500 then the line would be -150 or however the ML/Win% works it out
