    Building a bankroll from nothing

I just opened an account on 5Dimes poker site Open Waters I believe is the name. I'm not putting any $ in there right now and I'm going to try and build a bankroll from the free plays and go from there. Any thoughts or advice from anyone on doing this?

I believe Chris "Jesus" Ferguson did this on FT a while back, if you need motivation I'd start by reading that along with some eye of the tiger by survivor.

IIRC, hardest part is the freeroll part, takes the longest for the least gain...standard poker after that. Good luck!

well I just played in my 1st free roll and got knocked out to a guy who kept shoving all in every hand I had 9-9 he had 6-6 and spiked a 6 on the turn. I will keep ya posted there seems to be a fair amount of these tournies each day so that should help.

Read up on how Ferguson did it, since he's done it twice.

He has good strategies about bankroll management.

Run like god in a couple freerolls and grind the smallest stakes cash tables available is the usual recipe.

The real question here is why? If you can go from nothing to bankroll you're good enough to deposit and win. Unless you just want the challenge, your time is better spent actually grinding something of substance.

Agree with Dane...if you are a good player then play at the level where you can win some real money. However if you are a beginner, this may be a good place to start as you are not really putting too much at risk. Either way, good luck with your adventures.

It's more of the challenge I wouldn't have a problem depositing but with winter months approaching I'm free most nights except Mondays as I play in a mens basketball league on that night. I just remember reading about Chris Ferguson doing it back in the day and thought that was a pretty cool idea honestly. If I could turn this into $100 I would be freaking jacked. If I deposited $100 and turned it into $1000 I would be happy but not as satisfied if that makes any sense at all?

Thanks as I recall this is exactly what Chris Ferguson did and that is my game plan right now. I would like to get $50 or so and then I would take some shots in some of the small buy in big tourneys. Probably a pipe dream but it will kill some time and keep me out of trouble.

Thanks man there is this one $150 free roll they have every day on 5Dimes that is the tourney I think I need to run like "god" in and I can actually have a decent bankroll for playing the smaller tables. I have a heritage account but I have never even deposited in there I remember when I first started betting however and that was 1 of my top 4 books along with betjam, pinny, and 5dimes. Now I only use 5dimes but wouldn't be opposed to looking into more outs.

Ya whatever works for you. It's about fun for 99.9% of us. I just can't imagine sitting there grinding out .1/.2 games. Gl...if you pull it off its something on your poker resume not many have.

Well I got my 1st cash tonight in the $150 free roll won $3 going to try and cash in another tourney before I start playing ring games I believe. I finished 27th place out of 1195 people feels good my final hand I lost with AJ suited in diamonds to 4-8 he was trying to steal my bb and ended up hitting a straight oh well.

Well I guess this is going to be the end of my thread until I find a new place to play I cannot log onto the poker site and I'm receiving a message saying 5dimes and EPN have decided to part ways they did roll over my $3 into my 5dimes betting account however.

Nevermind back in business using the FullFlush Poker basically the same site I was using before but I had to create a new account and start over from $0 but they offer the same tourneys I was playing in before so I will start over from scratch again.
