Premier League Predictions & Odds: EPL Best Bets, Expert Picks for Matchweek 5

My Premier League predictions and odds headline our soccer picks for Matchweek 5. After my predictions went 3-for-3 last week, I have high hopes entering the weekend. 

I've recommended three bets, two of which focus on the high-profile match at Emirates Stadium featuring Arsenal and Man City. Along with a match prediction, I discuss Erling Haaland's chances of bagging a goal.

💰 Sunderland vs. Aston Villa: Aston Villa ML ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Aston Villa hasn't scored a goal since the Premier League season started. That's four matches, which have the Villains reeling in second-last place. Meanwhile, Sunderland has seven points from a possible 12, winning both of its matches at the Stadium of Light. 

While that seems ominous, Sunday's match represents the kind of challenge Villa has excelled at during Unai Emery's tenure as manager.

Their back is against the wall, and despite Sunderland's early promising form, Aston Villa will know the importance of taking all three points from a newly promoted side. 

It won't be pretty, but I expect Aston Villa to finally score its first goal while picking up its maiden win of the season. The best sports betting sites reached a consensus, offering +110 odds for the visitors to win. A winning $10 bet will yield a profit of $11.

💰 Arsenal vs. Man City: Erling Haaland anytime goal ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Haaland has five goals in four Premier League matches to start the campaign, two more than anyone else.

The Norwegian beast is perpetually on a heater when he's fit, which he clearly is. He could have had more goals, too, with an unlucky miss against Manchester United that would have seen him score a hat trick.

On Thursday, he scored a goal against Napoli in Man City's first Champions League match of the season. He's also enjoyed success against Arsenal, bagging four goals in six Premier League meetings, including a goal in each of the last two. 

I'm also confident about his prospective matchup, as Arsenal's rock at the back, William Saliba, might miss out through injury. Even if he plays, Haaland should jump all over any rust Saliba needs to work through. 

BetMGM offers an exquisite +175 price, which would yield a $17.50 profit if he bags one. That's discernibly better than Caesars' +135 odds at the low end of the market. 

I'm also confident about his prospective matchup, as Arsenal rock at the back, William Saliba, is expected to miss out through injury. Haaland will be salivating at the opportunity to add to his ridiculous goals tally.

💰 Arsenal vs. Man City: Draw ⭐⭐⭐

Arsenal only lost two matches last season at Emirates Stadium and won both in the current campaign by an 8-0 combined score. Those lopsided victories came against newly promoted Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, though. 

Man City got smoked 5-1 the last time it played at Emirates Stadium.

However, that was an altogether different scenario as Ruben Dias and Rodri didn't feature. Plus, City is starting to turn the corner.

Pep Guardiola's men won their previous two matches by a combined 5-0 score, throttling Manchester United 3-0 in the Manchester derby. Rodri is returning to full fitness, and many of the new signings are starting to gel. Phil Foden is also showing signs of returning to his elite best. 

As mentioned before, Arsenal might not have Saliba to marshal the rearguard. Even if he does return, Haaland will look to test whether the center back is working through any rust.

Arsenal has some other key personnel concerns, too, including Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. BetMGM offers the best price (+270), with Caesars' +250 at the low end of the market. A winning $10 bet will profit $27.
