I'm backing a tie in my Man City vs. Liverpool prediction for today's clash of titans at Anfield (11:30 a.m. ET, Peacock). 

Neither team is in peak form, with Liverpool the slight +130 monelyine betting favorite. Both teams have fallen off the pace of league leaders Arsenal, with Man City desperate for three points to decrease the gap at the top to six points. Liverpool has just as much to play for as they chase a Champions League position.

Liverpool tied three of its last five Premier League matches against Arsenal, Fulham, and Burnley. Man City is in the same boat, having tied Tottenham, Brighton, and Chelsea. 

And while City has been the superior team, leading the Reds by eight points, Liverpool has the clear advantage of playing in front of its raucous Anfield fans.

Liverpool has been comparatively substandard at home, but the 12th man of Anfield is the great equalizer in critical matchups. It should buoy the Reds, facilitating a share of the spoils against a City team that has tied five of its 12 road matches.
