On Saturday, Chile and Canada clash for the first time at Copa America with a place in the knockout phase on the line, as we offer our Canada vs. Chile predictions based on the odds from our best soccer betting sites in the first sentence.

Chile have qualified for the knockout stage in the last six Copa Americas, winning the 2015 and 2016 editions. In 2021, the previous Copa America, Chile lost to Brazil in the quarterfinals.

In their Copa America debut, Canada will almost certainly advance to the quarterfinals with a draw on Saturday against Chile. The South American side must pick up all three points to make it seven straight knockout phase appearances.

Saturday's match occurs at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Fla., with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET. Chile are the favorite across our best sports betting apps, and neither team is among the Copa America odds favorites.

Canada vs. Chile score prediction

Chile 1 vs. Canada 0

This contest has all the makings of a defensive slugfest. Canada have one goal in four matches since Jesse Marsch took the helm. That's not too shabby considering their opponents were France, the Netherlands, Argentina, and Peru.

While Canada have enough offensive talent to concern most teams, Chile will bear down and suffocate Marsch's team with a frustratingly effective smothering defense. Chile kept three clean sheets in six World Cup qualifiers and allowed just one against Argentina and Peru.

Chile unloaded for eight goals in three friendlies before the Copa America commenced, but don't let that offensive explosion mislead you. The Chileans haven't been nearly as prolific in competitive matches, failing to score in three straight World Cup qualifiers and both at Copa America 2024.

That's five competitive matches in a row and six of their last seven without finding the net. The only exception was a 2-0 victory over Peru in Chile. Plus, there's way too much at stake for this to be an expressive, enterprising, and free-flowing offensive display. At +600, FanDuel's odds will pay a profit of $60 if Chile wins 1-0. Those odds imply a 14.29% probability.

Canada vs. Chile anytime goal scorer prediction

Eduardo Vargas, Chile

Vargas is one of Chile's most experienced and decorated players. He has 42 goals in 111 caps with Chile, netting 14 in 25 Copa America appearances. He wasn't a part of the national team for almost two years but re-entered the scene recently.

Upon his return to the squad in March, he scored against Albania and added another against Paraguay, making it two goals in three matches.

Chile failed to score against Peru and Argentina and didn't possess a formidable offensive threat. However, Vargas is one of the players in their starting 11 who has the quality and ruthlessness to get on the scoresheet in a flash.

The +240 odds at FanDuel are the best around, implying a 29.41% probability. A $10 bet will profit $24 if Vargas gets on the scoresheet.

Best odds: +240 via FanDuel

Canada vs. Chile best bet

Chile ML

There's no doubting Canada's quality. A team revolutionized and in the ascendancy, Marsch has taken over a collective with abundant talent in certain positions. They are fearless and have the confidence to go toe-to-toe against most nations.

However, despite qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, Canada is palpably less experienced than their CONMEBOL opponent. It's their first kick of the Copa America can, and while they performed admirably in the 1-0 win over Peru, a match against Chile represents a discernibly stiffer challenge.

Chile, masters of the dark arts

Chile are busting with international experience and play a dogged, physical brand of footy similar to Peru. However, Chile are technically superior, with numerous players in the starting 11 playing in elite domestic leagues.

They are also experts in skulduggery and masters of dark art. They will disrupt proceedings at every opportunity, unrelentingly fouling to slow proceedings. They'll roll around to gain an advantage, playing to their strengths to frustrate and nullify the Canadians' offensive threat.

Canada are every bit as skilled and technically gifted as Chile but aren't yet prepared to overcome one of the most resourceful and crafty teams in world football.

Most of our best sports betting sites are uniform, offering +100 odds for a Chile win.  But DraftKings is offering a slightly better +100, representing an implied probability of 47.62%, and a $10 bet pays a profit of $10 if it hits.
