I featured this fixture in my Matchweek 3 Premier League predictions and odds, backing the Cityzens to pick up all three points. Due to extenuating circumstances, City lost on the south coast 2-1 in November 2024.

Guardiola's rearguard had more injuries than a full physiotherapy waiting room, which provided 19-year-old center back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey with his only start of the season. While his presence at the spine of the team wasn't the only reason City lost, it played a critical part.

I'm not overly concerned about City's loss to Tottenham last week, given the team's seemingly never-ending curse against the Londoners. That 0-2 defeat marked its first in 12 Premier League matches. City is unbeaten in five consecutive away matches, keeping a clean sheet each time.

I'm not exactly going against the grain with this pick. Despite my nauseating predictability, Haaland netted two the last time I backed him to bag at least one.

The Norwegian monster has an excellent track record against Brighton, which is hardly surprising considering there are only a few teams against which he doesn't boast an outrageous goal return. 

The 25-year-old scored five goals in as many matches against the Seagulls, including one in each of the last three. He has 87 goals in 99 Premier League matches and will be hungry to net another in his centurion performance. 

While I'm not enamored by the minus-money odds across the best sports betting apps, BetMGM's -105 betting odds are much more palatable than the others.
