The Blues travel to New Balance Stadium in Bergamo, Italy (3 p.m. ET, Paramount+) on the back of a three-match winless streak in the Premier League as I offer my Atalanta vs. Chelsea prediction. 

Despite their mini-rut, the Blues are the +115 betting favorite against an Atalanta team tied with them in the Champions League standings on 10 points. Considering Chelsea's subpar recent form, I'm backing a draw, a result that would suit both combatants. As part of my Champions League best bets, I'm also featuring a Moises Caicedo player prop.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Chelsea.

The joy after winning their last Champions League game, 3-0 against Barcelona, was quickly forgotten after Chelsea failed to win its next three Premier League matches.

The Blues have looked like a shell of the team that was in the thick of the Premier League title race late last month. I’m expecting them to struggle offensively against Atalanta and for this one to finish Under 2.5 total goals.

Facing Atalanta is never easy. But it’ll be especially hard for Chelsea considering that Atalanta have been solid defensively in recent weeks, recording clean sheets in their last three Champions League games.

Atalanta’s consistency has helped move to 10th place, within touching distance of an automatic berth into the next round. The top eight teams automatically qualify for the round of 16.

However, Atalanta are one of the lowest scoring teams in the Champions League, with just six goals in five games. Considering that Chelsea’s attack has also dried up (scoring two goals in the last three games), hitting the Under here is a real possibility.

Moises Caicedo vs. Charles De Ketelaere

Given that we’re predicting that Atalanta will frustrate Chelsea on Tuesday, we’ll target Moises Caicedo to lose his cool and commit two fouls against the Italian side.

Caicedo, who’s currently serving a three-game suspension in the Premier League for a straight red card against Arsenal, committed five fouls over two Champions League matches before Chelsea’s win over Barcelona, giving him seven total this season in the competition.

It’s set to be another physical encounter Tuesday when Caicedo goes up against a player in Charles De Ketelaere, who’s renowned for his versatility, passing range, and intelligence.
