In the blockbuster matchup of the quarterfinals, USA looks to keep its red-hot play going against a disappointing Swedish squad.

My USA vs. Sweden prediction has the Americans flexing their muscle once again to get by the Swedes and punch their ticket to the semifinals. Puck drop is at 3:10 p.m. ET today from Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena (NBC, Peacock), with USA a -260 betting favorite as part of our Olympic hockey odds and predictions.

💰 USA vs. Sweden prediction & best bet

USA -1.5 (+100)

While Sweden has the depth on paper to match Team USA, the execution hasn't been there. The Swedes' only other matchup against an NHL player-stocked squad was a 4-1 loss to rival Finland.

Sweden is undoubtedly the biggest challenge for Team USA so far, but I don't see them putting up enough of a fight to keep the final score within a goal. I'm thrilled to get plus-money odds on the puck line at DraftKings, but there's value up to -115 on the U.S. winning by two goals this afternoon.

Score prediction: USA 4, Sweden 2

🔥 Best USA vs. Sweden player prop bet

Jake Guentzel anytime goal (+280)

On a stacked Team USA forward group, Jake Guentzel isn't necessarily who you'd think of first as a goal scorer pick today. But he has a significant advantage in the matchup against Swedish goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

Guentzel has scored four goals across three head-to-head meetings with Markstrom in the NHL this season, including a hat trick. Guentzel sits just eighth on the anytime goal oddsboard at FanDuel, but that gives us an opportunity to cash in at great +280 odds. I'd play this bet up to +200.

💡 How I'm betting USA vs. Sweden

I'm dispersing my 2 units across three bets for this match, with the only wager of a full unit on the puck line (USA -1.5) as my most confident play today.

As excited as I am to back Guentzel to score today, especially given the matchup, I'm only wagering 0.5 units on it. That's due to USA's forward depth, in which the scoring could come from anywhere.
