🏒 Maple Leafs vs. Devils Prediction & Odds: NHL Picks Today (March 4)
Last Updated: March 4, 2026 7:36 AM EST • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
Can the stars align at Prudential Center tonight for the languishing Toronto Maple Leafs?
I believe so, as I back the +102 moneyline betting underdog to snap a four-game losing streak in my Maple Leafs vs. Devils prediction. While New Jersey won its second in a row on Tuesday after losing five straight, the game was notably more challenging than the 5-1 score indicates.
I'm also featuring the Buds' captain, hoping he lights the lamp for the first time in nine games. The game from Newark, N.J., starts at 7 p.m. ET (Sportsnet, ESPN+).

💰 Maple Leafs vs. Devils prediction & best bet
Maple Leafs ML (+102)
This pick is by no means an endorsement of the current state of affairs in Buds land. However, the stars are aligning after the New Jersey Devils endured a physically charged affair against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
Surely, a few players, including Jack Hughes, will be sore after one of the more rough-and-tumble games since the restart. Jacob Markstrom, who has been superb recently, will probably make way for Jake Allen, who is 1-7 in his previous eight starts.
Despite losing four in a row, I like this as a situational matchup for the Maple Leafs.
Score prediction: Maple Leafs 4, Devils 3
💡 NHL player props for Wednesday's action
I feature an additional Maple Leafs' pick in my NHL player props today, along with three others, including an anytime goal-scorer pick for an in-form Hurricane.
🔥 Best Maple Leafs vs. Devils player prop bet
Auston Matthews anytime goal (+145)
Somebody, anybody, give your captain a Red Bull or two. He hasn't scored in eight games, easily his longest drought of the season. I can't see the dry patch extended much longer, and Matthews has been known to tear the Devils apart.
He has eight goals in the previous eight meetings with them, and I like the fact that he'll likely face Allen, who should get the nod after Markstrom played last night.
📊 Live Maple Leafs vs. Devils odds
The Devils opened as the -116 betting favorite, and their odds have since improved to -120. That's because of their impressive win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
💡 How I'm betting Maple Leafs vs. Devils
Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.
As he hasn't scored in over a month, I'm not willing to put a full unit on Matthews. I like the 0.5-unit play, though, as he has run roughshod over the Devils for years.
My confidence in a Maple Leafs victory increased after watching the Devils and Panthers go at it hammer and tong. And the right messaging is coming out of the Buds locker room from head coach Craig Berube despite their woeful run.
It's a situational play, and nothing more. One unit is $10.
