It finally happened. With the St. Louis Blues winning three in a row, every team has now won at least three straight.

I'm backing St. Louis to win a fifth straight in my Islanders vs. Blues prediction, when the teams meet tonight at Enterprise Center in St. Louis (7:30 p.m. ET, TNT). I don't expect the Blues to go on the sort of run they pulled off last season, but Jim Montgomery's team is playing solid defensive hockey, while committing fewer errors.

💰 Islanders vs. Blues prediction & best bet

Blues ML (+105)

While it's nothing like the scorching streak that got the Blues into the playoffs last season, Montgomery's team is on a nice little run, having won four in a row and five of the previous six.

By winning four in a row, they've done something the Oilers have failed to do. St. Louis has been playing solid defense and is getting timely, key saves from Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer, who have been alternating starts for some time.

The Islanders, meanwhile, have lost two of the three on their current road trip.

Score prediction: Blues 3, Islanders 2 (+3000 via FanDuel)

🔥 Best Islanders vs. Blues player prop bet

Robert Thomas Over 0.5 assists (+110)

The Thomas I've been waiting for all season has finally arrived. While it's probably too late to propel his team into the playoffs, it's nice to be able to rely on the assist king once more.

He has an assist in five of the previous six games after going five without registering one. The Blues' winning run will likely end when Thomas cools off. For now, I'm riding the hot hand.

I'd play this bet to even-money +100 odds.

💡 How I'm betting Islanders vs. Blues

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

The Blues are enjoying their best patch of the season. I'm banking on their confidence and renewed vigour to spill into tonight's game, particularly with the Islanders enduring a miniature road blip.

I'm backing the Under for various reasons: The Blues' goaltending has been excellent lately and so has their defense.

I'm also expecting a solid game from Vezina Trophy odds candidate Ilya Sorokin, who has enjoyed a couple of days off. St. Louis' last five games had five goals or fewer.
