🏒 NHL Player Props Today: Best Bets & Prop Picks for Friday, March 20
Last Updated: March 20, 2026 6:57 AM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
My NHL player props for today's slate feature Matthew Tkachuk, Jack Hughes, Sebastian Aho, and Cale Makar.
Tkachuk faces his former team in Calgary, while Hughes has been buzzing, creating open ice as effortlessly as hockey players say get pucks in deep in post-game interviews. Aho continues to produce consistently, and Makar usually thrives against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Let the games begin.

💰 Best NHL player prop bet today
Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 assists (-106) at Flames
Tkachuk has been enjoying his hockey since winning a gold medal with the United States, notching nine assists in his last nine contests.
He and his linemates had an expected goals percentage of 64 against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, dominating despite the defeat.
While the Tkachuk-Sam Bennett-Carter Verhaeghe trio was outplayed in Edmonton on Thursday, Tkachuk still found a way to get a helper. He's back in his old stomping ground for tonight's game against the Flames, and I have no doubt he'll be a thorn in his former team's rear parts.
🔥 More NHL player prop picks
Jack Hughes Over 3.5 shots (+105) at Capitals
Hughes is buzzing around the ice like an agitated wasp, and he's hit the Over on this total in six of the previous seven games. Over the last seven games, he's attempted 7.6 shots per contest.
And it's clear he's hellbent on making life difficult for the opposing netminder, using his breakneck pace to create enough space to fire. Only Nathan MacKinnon is better at opening up enough ice to let loose.
I'm expecting him to use his speed as an advantage against a bigger Capitals lineup.
Sebastian Aho Over 0.5 assists (-105) at Maple Leafs
I backed Aho to notch an assist against the Blue Jackets, which he failed to do. He did, however, post one in the following game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
I'm going back for tonight's contest in Toronto as he has been producing consistently, with eight helpers in the previous eight games. The Hurricanes are scoring a ton of goals lately, too, except for the game against the Blue Jackets, of course.
They have averaged 3.91 goals per game over the last 11, the second-most.
Cale Makar anytime goal (+290) at Blackhawks
I'm hoping Makar's goal against the Dallas Stars on March 18 is a sign of things to come from the Norris Trophy odds contender.
He had 10 shot attempts against an exceptional Stars defense, and Makar loves playing the Blackhawks, with four goals in the previous three meetings.
FanDuel offers the best price of the best sports betting sites, and I'd play this pick to +270.

💡 How I'm betting NHL player props today
Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.
I'm changing tactics for Friday's games by selecting only one goal-scorer prop. Goal-scorer props are a high-risk, high-reward wager type, and I've been bitten too many times in March.
To get back to where I want to be and usually am, I'm going to go with a heavy dose of more probable player props.
Both Tkachuk and Hughes have been superb since the Olympics, and I especially like the matchup for Tkachuk against his former team. That's why I'm devoting a full unit to those picks.
