Something's gone awry with the home cooking in Toronto, as the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost three of the last four, all without Auston Matthews, and are a mediocre 5-4-0 at Scotiabank Arena since Nov. 26.

Matthews' status for Saturday's contest against the Boston Bruins (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+) is still unknown. Meanwhile, the Boston Bruins are floundering on the road, losing four in a row and six of the previous eight.

Our Bruins vs. Maple Leafs prediction features one of the home team's in-form players, Bobby McMann, while also providing a Brad Marchand prop pick.

It took McMann only one game to get back into the swing of things after missing seven in the first two weeks of December due to a lower-body injury. He was held off the scoresheet in his return against the Detroit Red Wings but has since been on a tear, registering at least a point in seven of the last nine contests.

He has 10 points (six goals and four assists) during that stretch. The 28-year-old scored both of Toronto's goals in Thursday's 2-1 away win over the New York Islanders and has four points in the last four games.

He tallied four points in the previous six games at Scotiabank Arena and is popping up more consistently as an offensive threat, most recently in Matthews' absence.

McMann notched five points in the six games since Matthews re-aggravated his upper-body injury. Against the Islanders, he had a 60.9 expected goals %, which followed 60.7% the previous game.

A winning $10 bet will profit $11.

Bruins vs. Maple Leafs player prop pick

NHL picks made Saturday; odds subject to change.

Brad Marchand prop pick: Over 2.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -120 via Betway | Implied probability: 54.55%

I backed Marchand to fire at least three shots on Jonathan Quick in the Big Apple on Thursday, and he came through. I fear his recent uptick in shot productivity will end at some point, but I'm compelled to ride the hot hand.

Marchand has at least three shots in the last three games and 13 of the previous 17 road encounters. That extended stretch of success in enemy rinks instills the most confidence. He also hit this Over in both previous tilts against the Maple Leafs, registering three in Toronto and four in Boston.
