Bruins vs. Lighting Prediction Expects Goals to Be at a Premium (Feb. 1)

Expecting Tampa Bay to put on another defensive masterclass, I'm backing the Under in my Bruins vs. Lightning prediction.

Two of the hottest teams lock horns in Tampa, Fla., and I'm backing Jon Cooper's team to execute another defensive masterclass against in my Bruins vs. Lightning prediction.

The Lightning are the -215 moneyline betting favorite despite Boston's current hot streak. That tells just how impressive the Lightning have been over the last six weeks, having won 16 of 18. With goals expected to be at a premium, I've found a player prop suitable for the scenario. The game takes place at Benchmark International Arena at 6:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).

Seven of Tampa Bay's previous eight games had five goals or fewer. Exquisite defensive work, combined with Andrei Vasilevskiy's outstanding play between the pipes, is the two primary reasons for Tampa Bay's extended hot streak.

Tampa allows the second-fewest expected goals and the third-fewest high-danger chances against. I expect more of the same, especially with Cooper's team on high alert due to Boston's recent torrid streak.

Boston, meanwhile, has allowed more than three goals in one of the last five.

Score prediction: Bruins 3, Lightning 2

🔥 Best Bruins vs. Lightning prop bet: Jake Guentzel to set up a teammate (-108)

Guentzel has an assist in four of the last six games and notched two helpers against Boston the last time the teams met. As I believe goals will be at a premium, I'm not willing to bet on any player scoring two or more points, although Nikita Kucherov's multi-point player prop almost made me pull the trigger.

Guentzel has 10 helpers in the previous 13 games, so the probability of him securing one assist feels higher than the 51.92% that accompanies the -108 odds.
