🤠 Will Deion Sanders be the Browns' next coach?
Despite the wishes of a group of vocal fans on X (formerly Twitter), it looks like Deion Sanders won't be the next head coach of the Browns. In the wake of the firing of Kevin Stefanski on Black Monday, Deion was trading as high as 8% at prediction markets. Despite his "yes" still trading for 4 cents, his odds have fallen off the board altogether, as he remains under contract with the University of Colorado.
However, as long as Shedeur is on a roster that has a coaching vacancy, the two will be connected.
In Colorado two seasons ago, the duo (along with Travis Hunter) led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record, including a 7-2 mark in the Big 12, and a trip to the Alamo Bowl. Some of the luster wore off last season, however, as Coach Prime led his Buffaloes to a lowly 3-9 mark.
And whether Shedeur is the long-term plan for the Browns remains in question as well. The fifth-round draft pick finished the season as the team's starter, but recording seven touchdowns against 10 interceptions over seven starts hasn't necessarily instilled faith in from management that he's the man to lead the team forward.
However, as long as he's on any NFL roster, links to his father will pop up. And, as long as those links will pop up, engagement farmers will be able to dream of Coach Prime and Shedeur walking the sidelines together in the same colors.
🏈 Browns next coach prediction
It's long-hanging fruit, and it's far from exciting, but the answer to the question about who will be the Browns next head coach isn't Deion Sanders. Our Sean Tomlinson offered his Browns next head coach prediction.
Even at 2 cents for the 'yes', there's simply no value here. His son is far from guaranteed to stay under center for the Browns into next year and the future, and that fact alone is enough to remove any Coach Prime smoke from this particular fire. Even if Shedeur starts the season as the signal-caller, his leash isn't likely to be long, and the circus that would come with having his father as the man calling the shots and having to bench him wouldn't be worthwhile. There are just so many top names available.
A handful are seen as leading the charge equally, but I'm going to turn my attention to Jim Schwartz. He's currently the team's defensive coordinator, leading one of the league's staunchest defenses. ESPN reported that owner Jimmy Haslam has stated they'd like to keep Schwartz around, and the best way to do that might be to offer him his first head coaching gig in over a decade. Pair him with a fresh offensive mind as the OC, and the team might have both pieces in place.
While there are a number of names that might be seeing higher odds at this point, I'm anticipating they find their way to more appealing jobs than Cleveland.
Prediction: Jim Schwartz (yes to be Browns next coach, 11 cents)
❓ How do you trade on prediction markets?
Think of prediction markets like the stock market, but for real-world outcomes. You sign up, add some funds, pick an event (anything from politics to weather to sports to entertainment), and then decide whether you’re riding with “Yes” or fading it with “No.”
Prices bounce around $0.01 and $0.99 based on what everyone else believes, and once the event wraps up, contracts settle at either $1 or $0. You’re not betting against the house - you’re trading against other users and cashing in if your prediction hits.
