Vikings vs. Cowboys Prediction & Odds for Sunday Night Football

Though Dallas has the league's top passing offense (275.5 passing yards per game), the Vikings rank fourth in the league in pass defense, allowing just 172.5 passing yards per game.

My Vikings vs. Cowboys prediction for Sunday Night Football leans into the belief that Minnesota’s strength on defense can limit Dallas’ elite passing offense, leading to a closer game than the oddsmakers—especially the ones at FanDuel—are expecting.

The action for Vikings vs. Cowboys kicks off from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC). The Cowboys are 6.5-point betting favorites as part of our NFL Week 15 predictions.

Vikings +6.5 (-120) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Minnesota is 5-8 against the spread and is 2-3 ATS in road games. Dallas has performed well at home, scoring 32.7 PPG and going 4-2 ATS.

But we're fading every trend due to what I believe is a misprice from FanDuel, where the Vikings are +6.5 with -120 odds (54.55% implied probability).

A $10 wager on this spread would profit $8.33—and that's our prediction, if Minnesota can rise to its normal standard defensively while getting just enough out of its quarterback.

Can Dak Prescott conquer Minnesota's secondary?

Though Dallas has the league's top passing offense (275.5 passing yards per game), the Vikings rank fourth in the league in pass defense, allowing just 172.5 passing yards per game. In similar circumstances with the Vikings on the road in a dome against a top passing unit, Jared Goff threw for 284 yards—but Minnesota won the game, 27-24.

The worst of Minnesota's road woes have come against quality pass defenses like Seattle and Green Bay, but Dallas' 32nd-ranked pass defense should prevent this game from being a blowout.

Score prediction: Cowboys 24, Vikings 20

Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson vs. Dallas pass defense

The Cowboys allow the most passing yards in the league, 255.2 per game. While it’s going to be incumbent upon JJ McCarthy to take advantage of this weakness, he’s coming off a three-touchdown performance in a blowout win over Washington.

That effort could potentially provide some confidence before facing this Dallas defense. In six of their past seven games, the Cowboys have allowed both members of the opponent’s top wide receiver duo to log at least 59 receiving yards.

Because Jordan Addison’s prop is more attainable, we’re leaning into this trend, believing that both receivers can have success against this porous secondary.

Best prop bet: Jordan Addison Over 45.5 receiving yards (-113 via DraftKings)
