While the Detroit Lions have won four of their last five games, despite the fact that they are just 5-7 on the season, they remain the home favorites against the Minnesota Vikings, who are 10-2. Read on for our Lions-Vikings pick and prediction.
The Vikings have the second-best record in the NFL, but they have won nine one-possession games this season. When these two teams met all the way back in Week 3, the Vikings pulled out a 28-24 victory, scoring two fourth quarter-touchdowns to erase a 10-point deficit.
Here is our best Vikings vs. Lions NFL Week 14 bet (odds via DraftKings; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Vikings vs. Lions Analysis
This is without a doubt the weirdest spread that Oddsmakers have produced so far this season. The Lions opened as 2.5-point underdogs, and they are now favored by either 1.5 or 2 depending on which sportsbook you look at.
It feels too easy to pick a team that is a full five games better than another as underdogs, yet bettors are taking the bait. As reported on Dec. 7 by Max Meyer at Caesars Sportsbook, the Vikings had twice as many moneyline wagers placed on them as any other team, and their spread pick is second-most popular in the league.
The total is less exciting as it opened at 52, which is where the first meeting between these two teams finished, and it has not moved since.
Vikings vs. Lions Pick
Detroit Lions (-115) ★★★★★
The last time that the Vikings were part of a too-good-to-be-true line, they ended up losing 40-3 to the Dallas Cowboys. The Lions are not the Cowboys, but they have been playing really good football of late. They have won four of five, and their only loss during that span was a three-point defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
The Vikings haven’t won a game by more than eight points since their Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. It’s hard to call them lucky when they have managed to make the plays necessary to win, but they are not playing like a 10-2 football team this season.
The difference makers will be Amon-Ra St. Brown, who should be able to find plenty of room against a banged-up secondary, and the Lions’ defensive line which will be able to disrupt Kirk Cousins all day long, preventing his receivers from having the time to get open and burn a weak secondary.
Vikings vs. Lions Best Odds
BetMGM, Caesars or PointsBet (-115)
BetMGM | Caesars | DraftKings | FanDuel | PointsBet |
-125 | -125 | -135 | -126 | -125 |
You could take the Lions against the spread, but there isn’t much value there compared to taking them to win outright. For example, FanDuel has the Lions favored by 1.5, and the current price is -114. The difference between -114 and -126 isn’t enough to risk a one-point Lions win, which we have seen them do this season.
This line was at 2.5 at one point this week, and it has been dropping lately. Because of that, you can likely wait until Saturday or Sunday to get a number under -120. FanDuel currently has the second-worst odds for this moneyline, but with the lowest spread of any of the major sportsbooks, it’s just a matter of time before they’re offering the best number.
