Vikings vs. Commanders Picks, Predictions Week 9: Can Minnesota Keep Winning Streak Alive?
Last Updated: November 6, 2022 5:27 AM EST • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link

The red-hot Minnesota Vikings won their fifth straight game in Week 9, and they look to keep rolling against the Washington Commanders. Here are our top Vikings-Commanders picks.
A Week 2 drumming at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles seemingly sparked a fire in the Vikings, who have since won five straight games while averaging 28.6 points per contest. Star wideout Justin Jefferson hasn’t even caught a touchdown pass since Week 1, but that hasn’t mattered as the offense continues to hum along.
On the Commanders’ side of the ball, things have gone surprisingly well since starting quarterback Carson Wentz went down. Backup slinger Taylor Heinicke has been just OK for the most part, despite going 2-0 so far.
Here are our best picks and predictions for the Week 9 matchup between the Vikings and Commanders (odds via Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Vikings vs. Commanders Odds Analysis
The Vikings opened as 2.5-point favorites, but the spread has since increased to -3. Nearly all sportsbooks are offering that line, with the exception of BetRivers, which is posting the Vikings at -3.5. Minnesota is getting 57% of the cash and 68% of the tickets.
The total opened up at 44.5 before slightly slipping to 43.5, with 81% of the tickets and 7% of the cash counting on the Over.

Vikings vs. Commanders ATS Pick
Vikings -3 (-115) ★★★★★
A productive offense isn’t the only thing that’s been propelling the Vikings to their recent success. They actually sit sixth in the league in points allowed at just over 20 per game. Minnesota’s 24.7 points per game is also a top-10 mark in the NFL.
Only one win of their last five wins was by just three points or less. Winning by three-plus points isn’t a huge ask, even though Washington’s defense has been efficient.
The Commanders may keep this game somewhat close, but staying within a field goal would be a tall order against a much-better Vikings team.
Vikings vs. Commanders O/U Pick
Under 43.5 (-110) ★★★★★
There aren’t a lot of game scenarios between these two teams that would involve a high-scoring shootout. Through 15 combined games, these squads have allowed 36 total touchdowns, a lowly mark of 2.4 total touchdowns per contest. The easiest avenue to 44-plus points would be six touchdowns and a field goal, and that’s not one of the more likely outcomes.
In fact, neither Heinicke nor Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has thrown more than two touchdowns in a single game this season. Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook is always a threat to score, but Washington has been pretty stingy in that regard, as well, allowing only four rushing touchdowns all year.
There’s a reason the total has dropped since the market initially opened.
Vikings vs. Commanders Parlay Pick
Cook 100-plus rushing yards + McLaurin 100-plus receiving yards (+425) ★★★★
Parlaying prop bets involving star players is always a fun way to get into the game. Both Cook and Terry McLaurin are coming off games in which they hit these props.
The Commanders may be good at limiting rushing touchdowns, but they’re still yielding 120.4 rushing yards per game. Cook has rushed for 90-plus yards in four of seven games this season and will see a healthy number of touches as usual.
McLaurin should be able to hold up his end of the bargain. Rookie wideout Jahan Dotson didn’t participate in Thursday’s practice, and his vacated targets will likely stay that way. Last week wasn’t a flash in the pan, either, as Heinicke fed McLaurin 100-plus air yards in four different games last season.
This prop parlay is still a long shot, but there’s great value given the boosted odds of this promotion.
