The 1-5-1 Houston Texans host the 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night of Week 9 in the NFL. Read on for our Eagles-Texans Thursday Night Football prop picks.

Through eight weeks in the season, the Eagles remain the only undefeated team in the NFL. They have the league’s third-highest-scoring offense and their defense is among the top five in terms of points allowed per game. 

Meanwhile, the Texans are not enjoying their 2022 season with a 1-5-1 record. They lost back-to-back games coming into Week 9 and are in a battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the worst team in the AFC South.

Texans QB Davis Mills isn't afraid to air the ball out, as he has completed a pass beyond this distance in all but two of his games this season. However, this is not the norm, given his 6.4 average yards per pass thrown and 5.5 net yards per passing play. Overall, he is averaging just Under 215 total passing yards per game. 

This week, he faces a Philadelphia defense that has allowed just two passes to surpass this mark all year. The Eagles rank second in the league with an average of just 8.2 yards allowed per completion. In back-to-back weeks, they kept both the Vikings and Lions receivers under this total.

The Texans have participated in only one game this year that has featured more than 10 points scored in the opening frame. In fact, they’ve tallied just 10 points overall in the first quarter this season. Their defense has played well over the first 15 minutes of the game, allowing an average of 4.1 points in that span. 

Despite averaging 28 points per game, the Eagles are slow starters. They are entering this matchup with only three touchdowns in the first quarter through seven games. That's the ninth worst in the league.

Philadelphia has been in two contests that have gone Over this prop projection. Its defense has four opening-quarter shutouts and has allowed only four points per game before the second quarter.

Philadelphia has won all seven of its games this year and is at least a 13-point favorite to win across most books. On the season, the Eagles are winning their games by an average of 11.1 points with an 11.3 average over their last three. 

The Texans have an average point margin of minus-5.4 this year. They have lost six games this season and three of those have fallen within this spread.
