It took five weeks into the NFL season for there to be massive carnage in survivor pools, but now one has to navigate their NFL survivor pool picks carefully heading into Week 6 with no undefeated teams and just one winless team left.

We have advanced our survivor strategy pick each week, and our NFL picks as part of our NFL predictions for Week 6 give the best advice for how to advance in your survivor pools.

🧀  Safest NFL survivor pick: Packers (93.33%) over Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals are amid a three-game losing streak after starting 2-0. That has finally resulted in head coach Zac Taylor contemplating a quarterback change after Jake Browning has thrown more interceptions (five) than touchdown passes (four) in his three starts.

The Green Bay Packers had an early-season bye week to correct what went wrong in their Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns when they blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead, and only managed a tie despite scoring 40 points at the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.

Cincinnati is 0-16 SU with any quarterback not named Joe Burrow as its starter in September, October, or November under Zac Taylor. That makes the Packers the safest NFL survivor pick this week as the lone team favored by double-digits in the NFL odds.

🐎  Best NFL survivor pick: Broncos (80.95%) over Jets

The Denver Broncos are riding high after completing just their fifth win in franchise history when entering the fourth quarter trailing by 14 or more points. Quarterback Bo Nix was cooking over the final 15 minutes, completing nine of 10 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown, while leading three scoring drives.

The Broncos have the unenviable task of playing in the Eastern Time Zone and then in London in consecutive weeks. But they should prove too much for a New York Jets team that is the first in NFL history to start 0-5 while producing zero takeaways in any of the first five games.

Denver will be a popular pick at home in Week 7 against the New York Giants. Still, I prefer to use the Broncos this week since there is no telling how a team will respond after opting not to take their bye week immediately following an international game.

🏴‍☠️  NFL survivor strategy pick: Raiders (73.54%) over Titans

Those who were not burned by the Tennessee Titans' first win over the Arizona Cardinals last week have a great option for a contrarian play fading the Titans in their second straight game on the west coast.

The Titans snapped a 10-game losing streak, which was the longest active streak in the league. However, they needed an 18-point comeback, the largest deficit overcome by a rookie quarterback since 2019, to do so. And Tennessee got some massive help from Cardinals blunders in that game, no bigger than Arizona running back Emari Demercado dropping the ball right before the goal line on a touchdown that would have made the score 28-6.

The Las Vegas Raiders will likely be underdogs in all but two of their remaining games (home to the Browns and Giants). However, I prefer to use Las Vegas now in survivor pools, rather than later in the season, if chemistry issues start surfacing once elimination from playoff contention seems more imminent.

🐏 NFL survivor pick to avoid: Rams (81.82%) over Ravens

This is the second consecutive week that I have advised staying away from picking against the Baltimore Ravens in survivor pools.

Granted, the Houston Texans made that advice look silly after beating Baltimore by 34 points, tying for the worst home loss in Ravens history. However, Los Angeles still lost last Thursday night to a San Francisco 49ers team also ravaged by injuries, and it still has a home game against the New Orleans Saints and a road game against the Carolina Panthers next month, which would be considered much safer spots.

💵 Circa Survivor contest update

Circa Sports, a popular Las Vegas sportsbook, hosts one of the biggest NFL survivor pool contests. Entering the Week 5 Monday Night Football game, 4,669 of 18,718 entries remained, with the Cardinals, Rams, and Bills combining to account for 59.9% of the pool’s overall eliminated entries.

❓ NFL survivor pool FAQs

What is the best NFL survivor pick this week?

The Denver Broncos are the best pick in NFL survivor pools for Week 6, while the Las Vegas Raiders are the best contrarian pick for NFL survivor strategy.

How do NFL survivor pools work?

Each week, you must choose one team to win their game outright, but you can't use the same team twice across the 18-week NFL regular season. That means you must pick teams that are likely to win but won't be needed later in the year.

How do you win an NFL survivor pool?

The best way to win an NFL survivor pool is to make strategic picks each week that avoid upsets while leaving the best teams available late in the season. If you make the same picks as everyone in your pool, you won't be able to win - but you need to pick teams that can avoid knocking you out early.
