The first Sunday Night Football game of the season offers a highlight matchup, as my early Ravens vs. Bills prediction and odds break down a rematch of last year's playoff clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.

As part of our NFL predictions for Week 1, we look at how the the last two NFL MVPs will fare as their Super Bowl odds contending teams meet at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. at 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC).

Buffalo has flipped from a 1.5-point favorite to a 1-point underdog in recent wagering, but my NFL picks are more concerned with the total.

⬆️ Over 50.5 (-105 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

This is a matchup of the only two teams that had 11 or more 30-point games last season. So while much has been made of neither team’s quarterback playing at all in the preseason (in Josh Allen’s case, it was the first time in his career he never got any preseason snaps), I am excited to back this under-inflated line in a matchup of the last two MVP winners with my Ravens vs. Bills early predictions.

Baltimore used its first-round draft pick on safety Malaki Starks to help a defense that was atrocious in defending deep passes last season. On throws of 15-plus yards downfield, the Ravens ranked 29th in QBR allowed, tied for 29th in completions, and 24th in passing touchdowns allowed.

Allen is coming off a season where he posted an NFL-best and career-high 77 Total QBR. But I expect Jackson and company to match scores with the Bills, given that the Ravens led the NFL in offensive efficiency in the regular season.

These teams combined for 52 points in frigid temperatures in last year’s playoff meeting, so the ceiling is high for their combined point totals in perfect early September weather. Bet this at FanDuel before the total climbs.

🔍 Ravens vs. Bills odds analysis

The point spread has moved away from Buffalo at most of the best sports betting sites, with the home team now a 1-point underdog as of Thursday morning. Given that Buffalo has won 10 straight home games, this might be your time to pounce if you're after the home side.

FanDuel is the only top sportsbook offering 50.5 under a price of -110. This opened as high as 51.5, but most sites continue to shade toward the Under.

❓ Ravens vs. Bills FAQs

Who is favored to win Ravens vs. Bills?

The Bills opened as the favorite to beat the Ravens, though both teams feature the same best moneyline odds of -105 across the best NFL betting sites.

What are the opening odds for Ravens vs. Bills?

The Bills opened as 1.5-point favorites on the point spread, though the line has moved to pick 'em. The total opened at 51.5 points.

How do NFL odds work?

When betting on NFL odds, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.

Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
