The Seahawks' ability to nearly erase opposing wide receivers will be central to this matchup. Seattle gave up the second-fewest yards to wideouts throughout the regular season and the eighth-fewest receptions.
This game could hinge on whether that strength is maintained and the Seahawks can limit the chunk plays from the league's top-ranked passing and scoring offense. It's a unit feeling confident in that regard after holding the 49ers' wide receivers to a combined 24 yards on three catches.
Our Gary Pearson is taking a different stance in his early Rams vs. Seahawks prediction.
Score prediction: Seahawks 24, Rams 20

A struggle to defend tight ends is one of the few weaknesses to exploit when facing an intimidating Seahawks defense. Seattle gave up the sixth-most yards to the position during the regular season, and the fifth-most catches.
It's a perfect fit then to ride with the Rams' Colby Parkinson to score, as he's been emerging as a touchdown menace. His eight touchdowns ranked fourth among tight ends this season, and he's now scored nine times across his last 11 games. He sat ninth leaguewide with 20 red-zone targets, too.
