Former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is widely expected to have his choice among the six other openings this coaching cycle. The best odds from the John Harbaugh next team prediction markets show the New York Giants as the heavy favorite to be that destination, with Polymarket giving Big Blue a 33% chance of landing the former Super Bowl champion.

✂️ Why is John Harbaugh available?

Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens on Tuesday, one day after most NFL head coaches are let go. The team missed the NFL playoffs following a missed field goal in the final game of the regular season against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

It represented just the sixth time Harbaugh failed to reach the playoffs in his 18-year tenure as Ravens head coach. He went 180-113 (.614 win percentage) over that time, and led the team to a win in the 2012 Super Bowl. However, they went just 3-6 in the playoffs over their last six appearances (since 2018).

All that regular-season success - without postseason fortunes - while working with two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson wasn't enough to keep the band together in Baltimore. The Ravens opted to stick with the quarterback amid prior reports of beef between the two cornerstones of the franchise.

🔍 Who could hire John Harbaugh?

Teams with head coach openings three days after the regular season, according to our NFL head coaches tracker, are:

Harbaugh is - by far - the most successful of the coaches let go this week. As such, he's expected to be the first scooped up, and could land a record contract in the process. He's the favorite in most "next head coach" prediction markets, with the Giants next head coach being the most discussed.

The Giants went 4-13 this season, finished last in the NFC East in consecutive seasons, and have gone through six coaches (head coach or interim) since Tom Coughlin's reign ended after the 2015 season.

💰 John Harbaugh next team prediction

Falcons (15 cents)

The Falcons fully cleaned house following the 2025 regular season - their ninth straight without a playoff appearance. Head coach Raheem Morris, general manager Terry Fontenot, and CEO Rich McKay were all let go or moved to a new role.

Former franchise star Matt Ryan is widely expected to be hired as the new team president of football. It's unclear if the team will stick to a top-down order of operations for filling these vacancies or jump at the chance to land Harbaugh and build up from there.

Atlanta has a pair of attractive offensive weapons in running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London, but quarterback uncertainty with Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr., who missed the second half of the 2025 season due to a knee injury. It's unknown if he'll be ready for the start of the 2026 season. The defense took major strides this past season, largely fuelled by rookies James Pearce Jr. (10.5 sacks), Xavier Watts (five interceptions), and Jalon Walker (5.5 sacks).

Outside of those pieces, Harbaugh and the new general manager would have a relatively clean slate with which to rebuild the Falcons. The fact Atlanta, 8-9, finished tied for first by record in the NFC South despite being eliminated from playoff contention in early December, could be another attractive factor for Harbaugh. The division represents one of the easiest paths to the postseason after years of dogfights in the AFC North.

The Falcons have a 12% chance at Polymarket of being Harbaugh's next team, and a Yes price of 15 cents.

❓ How do you trade on prediction markets?

Think of prediction markets like the stock market, but for real-world outcomes. You sign up, add some funds, pick an event (anything from politics to weather to sports to entertainment), and then decide whether you’re riding with “Yes” or fading it with “No.”

Prices bounce around $0.01 and $0.99 based on what everyone else believes, and once the event wraps up, contracts settle at either $1 or $0. You’re not betting against the house - you’re trading against other users and cashing in if your prediction hits.
