💰 Jets vs. Patriots betting impact

The Patriots have won seven games in a row entering Thursday Night Football, though they could be forced to adjust their style tonight against the rival Jets to accommodate the chilly conditions at Gillette Stadium.

With this game projected to reach sub-freezing temperatures by the fourth quarter, that favors a certain type of game script that doesn't exactly match what we've seen from New England's prolific offense so far. Here's what to know before betting on TNF:

  • Will Maye rein it in? Patriots QB Drake Maye has been prolific this year as the NFL MVP odds favorite through 10 weeks, but as we've seen in recent prime-time matchups, frigid temperatures often call for conservative game plans. Maye has thrown for multiple TDs in five straight games, but he's thrown 30 passes or more just once in that stretch while averaging less than 260 passing yards.
  • Don't trust the kickers. As we noted before the Eagles' 10-7 win over the Packers last week - a sub-freezing affair that ended with a missed kick - it's tough to kick a frozen rock. There's a reason we see fewer booming boots outdoors than in domes and why scoring tends to dip in colder games, so don't be afraid to take advantage.
  • Remain on Under watch. Our entire SBR team was all over the Under ahead of that chilly matchup in Green Bay, both for the full-game total and player props markets. That doesn't mean there won't be Over spots to take advantage of tonight, but we could see fewer overall plays if both teams trust their physical backs in the cold.
