The New York Jets have lost three of their last five games, and they are just barely clinging to a playoff spot heading into Week 14. Though they beat the Buffalo Bills earlier this season, the Jets are 10-point underdogs this week.

The Bills have won three in a row to recapture the top spot in the AFC East. Though they didn’t cover the spread against the Cleveland Browns or Detroit Lions, they had no problem doing so against the New England Patriots last week.

Despite beating the Bills earlier this season, the Jets are seeing no love against the spread this week. They opened as nine-point underdogs, and that line has swelled to the key number of 10 at every major sportsbook. On Pregame.com, 79% of the cash and 66% of tickets are backing the Bills, so don’t expect any late movement in the Jets’ favor this week. 

The total opened at 44.5, and it has dropped all the way to 43 at every major sportsbook except FanDuel where it sits at 43.5. There is minor support for the Over as 51% of cash on Pregame.com expects this game to finish with more than 44 points. However, 72% of tickets are backing the Over, so look for this number to potentially move up a half-point before Sunday.

This spread feels like a trap, but it’s hard to pinpoint in which direction. Are the Bills really 10 points better than the Jets, especially when the Jets easily could have won last week against the Minnesota Vikings? Either way, there is something fishy about this line, so it’s better to look at a player prop in this one.

Despite zero touchdowns and two interceptions last week, Mike White has looked more than competent as the quarterback for the Jets. He has thrown for 315 or more yards in each of his first two games and should be positioned to have a big game this week, especially if the Jets trail for the majority of the contest.

The Bills only allowed Patriots quarterback Mac Jones to throw for 195 yards last week. However, Jones was visibly upset on the sidelines, arguing about the run-heavy playcalling throughout the game. Prior to that matchup, the Bills had allowed two of the previous three quarterbacks they faced to throw for more than 300 yards. The way to beat the Bills is to throw the ball, and with the Jets clearly a passing team with White under center, it’s shocking to see this number so low.

Only three of the five major sportsbooks currently have this line listed, and the difference between the three isn’t much. Caesars is offering slightly inflated odds on the Over, but BetMGM, and DraftKings are both offering the exact same odds for the same total.

This line is significantly lower than it should be, likely because White is only in his third game and the Bills looked really good defensively last week. Therefore, you can wait until FanDuel and PointsBet set their lines to see if you can get a better price or a better number without feeling like you’re missing out on a golden window.
