Falcons vs. Buccaneers betting impact
Last week, the Buccaneers played through a rain storm that clearly had an effect on Baker Mayfield (122 yards) and the rest of Tampa Bay's passing attack. That won't be the case tonight with picturesque weather on tap in West Florida.
The temperature is expected to settle around 55 degrees tonight with lows in the mid-40s and virtually no rain in the forecast. With clear skies, mild winds, and roughly 75% humidity expected tonight, it should be ideal weather for the Buccaneers offense to get back on track - or for the Falcons' attack to find a spark under Kirk Cousins.
Here's how I'd consider the weather when betting on Falcons vs. Buccaneers:
- Perfect weather for passing? For most prime-time matchups in December, the weather is a major factor working against the aerial attack. That won't be the case tonight with clear skies and no rain or wind, so we could see Mayfield and Cousins get back on track in a favorable matchup against struggling secondaries for either side.
- Could we see Under trend reversed? It's been a great run for Under bettors recently in prime time as the temperature drops and rain or snow halt some of the league's best offenses. None of that should be an issue tonight, so while the Bucs and Falcons don't strike fear in the hearts of defensive coordinators, it could be a great opportunity for a rare contrarian play on the Over with a relatively low total.
- Keep an eye on Irving, Mayfield to score. While I'm expecting these passing attacks to find some success tonight, the ideal weather also paves the way for offensive balance - which could lead to Bucky Irving or Mayfield finding the end zone, too. Our Esten McLaren is backing both with his anytime touchdown scorer predictions.
