It wasn't long after the stage was set for Super Bowl 2026 that the rumors started circulating around New England Patriots QB Drake Maye, who reportedly suffered a shoulder in the AFC Championship Game that could affect him against the Seattle Seahawks.

We're having a look at a Drake Maye injury update and betting impacts with his Patriots listed as a 4.5-point betting underdog for Super Bowl 60 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. They'll have to hope he's ready to roll at 6:30 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock) on Feb. 8 if New England has any chance of upsetting Seattle in the Big Game.

🩼 Is Drake Maye injured?

Look, it's all speculative. The Patriots haven't come right out and said that Maye is hurt, and there are no injury reports. A lot of the reports have circulated around the word of Dr. David Chao (ProFootballDoc on X), who highlighted what he believes was an injury to the quarterback's right shoulder during the third quarter.

Make no mistake, following the point of the supposed injury, the Patriots leaned very heavily on their run game. But also, they were nursing a lead and milking the clock via the run game in a blizzard. It's hard to know if that was related to the supposed injury or purely game script.

🔴 What are the Patriots saying?

The Patriots haven't had to release a formal injury report ahead of the Super Bowl, but their first projected one is expected later today. Almost certainly, the quarterback will be listed as "limited" and "questionable", so that won't be shocking when it happens. Or perhaps they play mind games and list his as a full participant or a non-participant, who knows - it won't -really- matter this far out.

Head coach Mike Vrabel spoke with the media yesterday. He was asked about Maye's supposed injury and said he felt the talk about it has been overblown. Vrabel explained that at this time in the season, everyone is banged up and dealing with something. He didn't deny the injury, but he downplayed concern.

🗣️ What is Drake Maye saying?

Straight from the man himself, who was seen rotating his arm and seemingly in some level of discomfort, Maye told WEEI just yesterday that he was "feeling good" and "ready to go for the Super Bowl" in just under two weeks' time.

A little concerning note for fans and bettors: Maye didn't shoot down the prospect of being limited in practice or during the game.

💰 How to bet on Drake Maye injury

Right now it's hard to take an actionable information about the situation, but there are markets you might want to look toward in the event you think the shoulder injury is a real issue:

  • Drake Maye longest completion: if his AC joint is confirmed to be injured, the team and QB may be a little less likely to try to push deep passes. You might want to grab the Under now before the line pushes lower.
  • Rhamondre Stevenson total carries: the Patriots have been leaning heavily on their veteran running back in the postseason, and if Maye is indeed injured, we're likely to see a heavier workload at Super Bowl LX.
  • TreVeyon Henderson total carries / total receptions: Rhamondre's rookie backfield mate has seen limited action in the playoffs, but if the Pats lead heavy in the run game, Henderson could see extra carries and targets.
